No, seriously. WTF???
If I'm going to have to spend an entire evening figuring out how to archive my posts from the last four-plus years, there's going to be hell to pay.

I wonder if they're setting up to charge for ALL accounts.

Date: 2009-01-06 04:24 pm (UTC)I could simply be overreacting, but then again, when AOL started dropping all their extra apps awhile back, a LOT of people lost stuff because nobody got a decent heads-up, so I don't want to take any chances.
I guess I'm just pissed, because I depend on LJ to keep in touch with all of you back east. I'm also wondering, because LJ just had permanent accounts on sale a month or so ago...

Date: 2009-01-06 04:48 pm (UTC)I don't think we're looking to get any new features any time soon, or perhaps the new development will be in-house by Sup (I'm voting on the former). But there are many LJ-code ( based knock-offs back when it was open-sourcey and not a business)around the Internet (deadjournal, insanejournal) that are run by a couple of folks that I don't think make any money off it at all.
And if LJ actually does go down and no one tries to rescue it... there are the knock-offs and people will probably migrate to them.
