So the noise around LJ Land is that everyone's migrating over to Dreamwidth. Not entirely sure of the reasons why, not that I've really paid much attention to the ownership goings-on here on this platform.

As you may remember, Bob, I used to have a Dreamwidth account maybe 3-4 years ago. I even used it for a personal project of writing weekly poetry. But once I stopped that project, that journal gathered dust until a year ago when I decided to save the work I'd done in Word format and close it down.

[Edit: Looking at past posts, it's more like 6-7 years ago! I was posting the poetry around 2010-11.]

I'm undecided if I want to take the same route right now. I've been using LJ since 2004 and have a permanent account. Obviously I still use it, mainly for personal, non-music, non-writing related blog entries. I so rarely get a response, not that it bothers me. [OK, in a way it's kind of sad that I don't, considering that back in the day this platform got a lot of traffic. But that's another entry entirely.] I still read my Friends Feed, which at this point is probably the same eight or nine people I know who still post here. A. closed hers down a few weeks ago, having realized she hadn't posted anything for years. I wouldn't necessarily feel too bad about doing the same, considering I've more than gotten my money's worth for it.

At this point, I already have two WordPress blogs going, which have been getting more attention than the LJ over the last few years. If I did rejoin Dreamwidth, it would be to post the same thing -- more personal entries. I'd backup these entries and close this one down.

But at this point, like I said -- still up in the air.

We shall see.

ITEM: I need to update my current default LJ icon. Obviously Arkham West no longer looks out over the corner of Bay and Stockton. I'll miss the view...but at the same time, I think it's good that I'll have less distraction. The new writing nook isn't much to sing about just yet, since we've only just plugged in a few days ago.

ITEM: Speaking of plugging in...first two days of working at home not too bad. Again, not as much distraction from outside, a LOT less ambient noise, and a better connection adds to that. Now if only my workplace would hurry up and upgrade the server so it's not lagging both here AND at work...

ITEM: I strangely feel the need to pick up where I left off re: The Process of Belief. Now that we're somewhat settled to a degree, I think I may dig out the notes I'd taken and do a bit of writing tonight! Haven't written for a few weeks do the move, so perhaps it's time to start up again...

ITEM: Note to self--if I'm ever going to get anything done writingwise, I've got to stop with the life-altering events like moving and major vacations. :p

ITEM: This damn cold is sort of going away...I hope. It depends on the time of day. Sometimes I'm stuffed up, other times I'm hacking up a lung...and other times I'm totally fine with just a case of minor sniffles. Razzafrazzin' allergies. X(

ITEM: We get to work so early that I really should take advantage of that and do some longhand writing.

ITEM: Still loving that new Editors album. Also? Need to download the Great Northern songs from eMusic, as I found they're on there! :)

ITEM: Did I say that I LOVE how quiet it is in our new neighborhood? That we don't have to crank up our TV or hear skateboarders heading down the street at 2am or worry about rattling windows or idiots throwing shoes through them on Friday nights?

ITEM: fnord.

ITEM: new tag--richmond sf! :)

I have TWO new icons, one of them above. Whee.

I have a lot of icons...but I've had them for so long I'm kinda getting sick of them. So! If anyone has any to spare or wants to find/make me some silly icons (or at least point me in the direction of where I can find good ones), I'd be happy! Not that I have anything exciting to give in return, but still...

I require icons of the following:
--writing
--the frustrations of writing
--famous writers
--music
--RAWKing out
--Looney Tunes related (preferably screen shots of the classic cartoons)
--anime characters with goofy faces (LOL'd pix accepted)
--LOLcats

Animated icons always good, of course...

So--anyone?

NOTE: I'm usually a nice guy so I'll even give credit where credit's due if you're the creator!

A) Confidential to [livejournal.com profile] lynxreign: Hardy har har. And thanks for doubling my outerwear wardrobe! :p

B) Is anyone else having a problem with LJ taking its own sweet time coming up on the screen? It comes up okay, it just takes a bit for it to actually react to things like scrolling and clicking on links. Mind you, this is when the screen first comes up...once it's fully refreshed, it's okay. Then again, it might be just be my friends page (okay, which one of you out there is fiddling with code?!?? :p ). And again, it might just be me.

NOTE: OH MY GOD is it GORGEOUS outside today. The temp is supposed to be 78, which is actually a little higher than usual for this city. This is total vacation weather, so there's a good chance the neighborhood is going to be swimming with people today. Going to head out with Emm today and do some shopping down in Daly City, and perhaps scoot down to Pescadero for lunch. Might also stop at the farmer's market on the PCH if it's open. Shall take the camera with me for pix. :) Also, will dispense with all pronouns at beginnings of sentences. :)

...and I come across this bit:

No one brings ideas to life quite like Gwen Stefani. With awesome personal style, and a true understanding of what it means to be creative, Gwen is a true inspiration for the designer in all of us.

I...um...hmm. *scratches head*
