Today was our annual trip to the SF Ballet to see The Nutcracker. We've pretty much gone to it every December give or take a few years (the company streamed it online in 2020 during the pandemic and yes, we bought tickets for that as well). It's always a fun time and further underscores the fact that Tchaikovsky is one of my all-time favorite composers. It's not just the famous segments everybody knows, but also that SF Ballet's version is quite brilliant in its own way.

And now I have tomorrow off again (yay!) so I think I'm going to head over to Green Apple Books to pick up the calendars I've been meaning to get. Oh, and I need to mail out my family's Christmas presents as well! Almost forgot about that!

Oh hey, it's been a bit since I've posted here! Been keeping myself crazy busy with more projects than I really should take on at one time, actually. So what's going on in Joncworld?

Multiple weekend days of stuff going on! The 10th was A Prairie Home Companion at the Nourse, the 18th was the SF Symphony (with Elvis Costello and Malcolm McDowell narrating a piece, no less!), and the 24th was a Tom Stoppard play at the ACT. We're all cultured n' stuff! But our calendar is pretty clear from here on in, at least until early April, in which we head to Manhattan to see a play and an aunt we haven't visited in nigh on ten years! And I haven't been in NYC in ages, come to think of it. We do have some fun stuff lined up for this year, though. [Note: we're hoping to try to visit the New England area sometime in the autumn, so we'll let everyone know as soon as we get more info on that.]

In other news, life goes on as normal. Work is work, play is play, writing is writing...I actually kind of like having a busy schedule, because I know I can handle it. It's forcing me to prioritize better, which has always been a weak spot for me. Plus the output is much higher! It's a win-win.

So what's going on with you?

YAY! Something I've been wanting to do for YEARS is finally coming to light. I just purchased tickets to A Prairie Home Companion here in town on January 9! :D

I know, silly of me to be all excited, but I've been listening to Garrison Keillor for years now and always wanted to sit in on one of his shows.

woohoo!! :)

As part of Emm's funpacked birthday weekend, we had tickets to see Mamma Mia!, which has just opened here in SF again.

The Good: EXCELLENT show. A lot sillier than I expected it to be. Also, quite impressed with how they seamlessly weaved all those ABBA songs into a goofy and fun plot. Added to the fact that the comedic timing of the actors and actresses was dead-on perfect. And anyone who thought this might have something to do with the movie Muriel's Wedding would be sorely mistaken. ;) Highly reccommended to all, I'd say!

The Bad: I now have all those songs stuck in my head, dammit. *headdesk* :p

Next Up: A Naruto movie on Cartoon Network tonight, a Giants/Reds baseball game on the 22nd down the road at AT&T Park, Hawaii next month, and the opera The Magic Flute on October 28th! Yup, we iz kultchurd! ;)
