The Tragically Hip with "Grace, Too"--one of the best-known and higly-regarded bands in Canada (pretty much their version of our Springsteen), with their best-known song.

Sloan, with "Underwhelmed". Another big-name band up that way, with their first hit. I'm proud to say I pushed this one heavily on my college radio station my senior year.

Loreena McKennitt, with "Lady of Shalott". Yes, she's singing Tennyson, but she does it beautifully!

Tim Chaisson & Morning Fold, "Slipping Away". Hey, whaddayaknow, he spells it my way! No idea if he's related (if so, VERY distantly, like most Chaissons from the eastern Canadian coast), but this is good stuff.

What about great Canadian artists like Rush, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Bryan Adams, April Wine, Saga and Celine Dion?!?!?

:-)

Heh! Truth be told, no one ever mentions the above musicians (I often hear "Rush, BNL, and...uh..." ;) ) so I thought I'd give them their due.

That said, interesting pointless trivia: The woman who introduced Rush to America back in the early 70s and helped get them a record deal used to teach at my college and I had her for a Radio History class. :)

Thanks for posting The Tragically Hip: embarrassed to say I'd never actually heard them. I like it a lot. And I love the vocalist's stage style: he reminds me of what Ian Curtis might have been like if he was, you know, basically a happy guy.
