Did you get the Gamefinder back yet? And what was wrong with it?

I got it back. According to the Midas, nothing was wrong with it. They checked the battery: fine. Gas or vapor leak: none. Brakes: fine. Suspension: fine. Heatshield: loose and tightened. Wiper Fluid Hose: loose and tightened. Oil: changed. $29.75

Weird.

That's odd. Do you still have the gas smell? Something must be causing it!

Yes, I do. They've been trying to find it for years. They can't smell it as it smells like what they smell all the time. I have NO idea what could be causing it.

Thanks. The first two seem like they might help. The last two don't cover my situation.

I figured it was worth a little websearch, I hate it when the mechanics tell you nothing is wrong, or that it is x, y, or z when it is really a or b.

When I worked for Dining one of the managers was having problems with his car stalling while driving. My girlfriend at the time had the same make of car and we had had the same problem several times. It was the "pickup coil" or some such thing that needed replacing. I told the manager this, but he insisted his mechanic knew what he was doing.

4 repairs and several hundreds of dollars later they finally replaced the part I had told him about and the problem was fixed. Sometimes you have to tell the mechanic you want something in particular replaced (especially if it isn't that expensive to try it as a fix).
