First you whiskey...
Nov. 9th, 2008 04:25 pmI have informed
emmalyon that I would like to try my attempt at making my own Irish Coffees. This sudden urge came from two places--one, from going to Tiernan's today and listening to a lot of reels and jigs on the stereo, and seeing a Modern Marvels episode about whiskey. Having never attempted it before, this is going to be like my Cap n' Cokes--a lot of trial and error, and my tastes are probably a lot, er, stronger than they should be when it comes to liquor.
So! That being said, I'd like to go with the creamier Irish Coffee that the Buena Vista is so famous for rather than the more-whiskey-than-coffee kind that was served to me at the SF Opera House (although I'm sure that was the fault of the bartender, not the mix of choice).
Any suggestions/preferences on the ingredients used before I go and buy them? We were thinking Canadian Club due to the fact that they're a)cheap, b)a good whiskey for mixes, and c)pretty much everywhere, but we're open for anything...
[Yes,
head58, I used that subject line just for you. ;) ]
