So has anyone else heard about the so-called Downing Street memo? Apparently some time before Generalissimo Bushie sent us off to war there was a memo floating around Blair's office that basically said "well yeah, he's all set to go to war in Iraq, but he has no freakin' clue how he's gonna do it."

Once again, this is a story buried under the Michael Jackson trial and Terry Schiavo and Deep Throat and everything else, hiding somewhere in the "World" section of CNN.com, but I'm not going to complain about that. Interesting and potentially newsworthy stuff always gets hidden and/or mentioned with only a brief two-sentence blurb then forgotten about.

What I'm thinking is that this memo just proves my worries that our government is full of people ill-suited for the job. We have a bunch of businessmen (and I use that term pointedly) in the office and no actual workers there, and that's always bothered me. It's one thing to have a bunch of intelligent people running a company, but it's another when all they know is theory and nothing about how those theories play out in real life. It frustrates and even sometimes scares me that our government has a bunch of Pointy-Haired Bosses (thank you, Scott Adams) running the show. Would any of you trust me to run the show, when all I know is Beatles trivia and how to write a novel? I thought not. I wouldn't trust me either. ;)

So this is what I'm expecting next:
A)Some right-wing chucklehead talk show host will make the joke "I wonder if Dan Rather had that memo verified."
B)The memo will be proven to be a fake.
C)The memo will be real, but Blair will be slick enough to talk his way out of it by saying "we were and still are totally behind President Bush and will continue to support his actions in Iraq" (insert flag-waving here)
D)The memo will bring on a two-year investigation that will ultimately lead to the memo being real and Bush being reprimanded, but by that time the war will either be over or a moot point.

What I'm not expecting:
A)A full investigation to prove that Bush just wanted to see what shiny red button did when he pushed it.

Apparently, Saudia Arabia is exempt from nuclear inspections now.
