At last count, I know of at least a dozen people who are going to be at WorldCon, which is really cool, considering that I only knew two people during the last con (Readercon, summer '03). Half I know either personally or through LJ, the other half are frequent visitors to the Forward Motion writer's website. All in all this should be a very cool con...

current tunage: Gabriel & Cassandra OST
What's this, you say? Gabriel and Cassandra? They're the two main characters of a vampire hunter goth comedy love story I'm about to start writing. I have most of the first chapter done, in which G recounts how he met C for the first time. Gabe is a music journalist, Cassy's a vampire hunter. They meet at a show at a club. And it has one of the best opening lines ever:
'Let me start by saying this--my wife is hot.'
She then proceeds to find the guitarist for the opening band, finds him to be a vampire, and slays him. All right in front of Gabe. And he still falls in love with her. Man, that's dedication for you.
I'm thinking of doing a quick run through this story during NaNoWriMo. I'm highly tempted, since I originally came up with this story as something light and fun to write after the hell that was a trilogy that's taken way too damn long to write. Hopefully if I don't have my hands full with twelve other things, perhaps I'll do it.

Bruce and I finally got together and jammed, our first official JEB! "reunion" of sorts in well over a year and a half. Unfortunately Eric was working and could not make it, but we survived. We sounded very rusty at the beginning but one could obviously tell that we were both quite thrilled to be able to play music again after such a long time. We didn't come up with anything new, just jammed on a few improvs and some older tunes. Did a killer version of "Sanguine" which I believe I did get on tape. By far one of our neatest songs, marred only by the fact that all available cd copies (all, er, five of them?) have the song skipping because of a slow PC processor when I transferred it from tape to hard drive. More on this later...

Right now I'm evading getting any writing done. I usually never get much done on Fridays, as that's when my writer's website has our Think Tank sessions in the chat room. It's basically a round table--someone asks a writing-related question, and the rest of us have ten minutes or so to brainstorm/comment/suggest ideas for them. It's a hell of a lot of fun and I've received a lot of help from the gang there.
Unfortunately, however, I have to work tomorrow, so I won't be able to stay up for it. Also, I won't be there next Friday, as I'm going to be in Boston. No biggie, though...I haven't had any questions to ask the last few weeks anyway. Sure, I'll miss them while in Boston, but like I said, there'll be a few of these FMers there as well. I'm thinking of taking a few pictures to post on the site, if I remember to buy one of those disposable cameras...

Okay, that's it...I gotta shower and duck into bed soon, so I'll end it here. I might post one more time before next Thursday...after that, I'm not sure when I'll post. If I can wing it, I might post during the con, just to keep everyone (including the writer's page) updated. We'll see what happens.
Until then, pleasant dreams and happy writing!
