I've been feeling a bit frustrated with my writing lately. I mean, really frustrated. It's become obvious that for some reason I'm avoiding writing conflict. [Pretty sure that has to do with IRL stuff too, but that's another post.] Am I overthinking it? Am I worried that I'm writing too many chatty non-action transitional scenes? I don't mind writing these, but they're making my stories boring and I hate it when that happens! Which makes me think that what I need to do is get myself used to writing tense scenes again. I mean, that's what I have the 750 Words site for, don't I?

Geh. I feel like I've been stuck in this position for almost a full year and I'm not sure why I can't get out of it. I need to find an outlet, methinks.

Meanwhile, A is in the kitchen at the moment making pepper jam and gassing up the entire apartment with its potency. *kaff kaff*

Other than that, not much to report...we're going on another mini-vacation at the end of the week to Monterey (just an overnighter), so that should be fun, though I'm hoping it'll be less foggy and overcast than it's been up here in SF!

A full-time writer, of course. What else would you expect? ;)

Say what you will about small and reasonably quiet midwestern Massachusetts towns, Athol's got quite an interesting history and has inspired a lot of my writing over the years. :)

Well, being that I've been in two bands that had lo-fi "releases" (okay, tapes of our jam sessions)...

The Flying Bohemians' official first album I believe was [livejournal.com profile] head58's compilation Music to Postulate By. Our first post-Nathane album I believe was Drop.

As for jeb!, the one compilation of our stuff I made was Three Guys and an Exclamation Point.

Mountain Dew aaaand.....whatever goes good with Mountain Dew. ;)

Spaghetti, of course. My mom would make it once a week for dinner and I remember in the autumn and winter it would steam up the big kitchen window. And yes, Italian food remains my all-time favorite food to this day. :p

The Beatles, and yes, definitely.

As if you had to ask. ;)

Well, son, a funny thing about regret is, it's better to regret something you have done, than something you haven't done....

Oy. Uh, wait...buh? Ooh, shiny!

Heh, like you had to ask:

Or better yet, roofside seats:

(Okay, two of them are still alive and I've seen Paul in concert, but the fact remains...seeing all four? Yeah, probably my top priority. ;) )

Okay, my first thought was that it reminded me of the movie poster for The Mothman Prophecies. This is the second time this movie's come into my head over the past month, plus I've heard Low's "Half-Light" (the movie's theme song) on my MediaMonkey over the last few weeks as well. Coincidence? Maaaaaaybee..... O_O

Oh, definitely Goblet of Fire and Deathly Hallows. Both of those were pretty damn impressive. ;)

Natively: English (although some would say otherwise, given my propensity for tripping up over words and cognitive thoughts :p )
Sort-of Remember from School: French, Spanish (I can understand it better than I can speak it)
Conlang, Self-Created: Anjshé (somewhat...I'm out of practice)

It's all [livejournal.com profile] head58's fault. Most things that happen to me are, anyway... ;)

I posted something about this a few weeks back, but here's my latest earworm again, for your enjoyment/pain/sadistic pleasure:

What an odd question...!

If it's my own posts, then the Radio Radio posts I did back in '05 are my favorites, since they were fun to write and put a lot of things in my life into perspective.

As for others' posts? Any of my friends' posts that devolve into silliness (most often caused by comments from [livejournal.com profile] head58 and [livejournal.com profile] lynxreign) are always fun to read. :)

Drawing maps, oddly enough. And I have a huge folder of them to prove it. I should scan some of them sometime and post them! :p

Most of you already know...jonc + writer = joncwriter! :p

And yes, it's pronounced "jonc", not "jon-see". A lot of people who ask for my email usually make that mistake, strangely enough. It comes from high school, when I had this running joke in a story I was writing with [livejournal.com profile] head58 and others where everyone was referred to by their first name and the initial of their last name, smooshed together. I've used Jonc as a nickname ever since.

I should tell you all about the Vanishing Misfits story in an RTS post one of these days...

Come on, you knew I'd answer this one. ;)

Fictional high school? Probably Shermer High. Come on, who doesn't want to meet up with the Breakfast Club kids??

Or, barring that, the fictional version of my high school that I used in my story One Step Closer to You. Sort of like Shermer High if my hometown was actually cool back then. :p

EDIT: Almost forgot...not sure if I'd want to stay there, but a brief visit to Cromartie High School would be fun, if a bit confusing... :)
