Another early awakening, which meant watching another Holmes on Homes at 6:30 in the morning. :p

Did some big-time shopping early this morning, driving down to Target. Found the best--and nicest!--way down there is to drive over to Great Highway (aka the You Can't Get Any Further West in San Francisco Than This Road) (okay, there's the Farralon Islands, but never mind that, this is where you ask me what kind of car I got) (ANYWAY), head south down the coast for a few miles, cut over on John Daly Blvd (where we found yet another shopping center that has all kinds of neat things!) and catch 280 the rest of the way down to Target. It took about a half hour tops, and as said, it was a VERY nice day for it, especially since the tide was in and the breakers were pretty high and rough! Very pretty watching that...

More stuff bought for the apartment, including cleaning stuff. On the way back we stopped at the Safeway on La Playa (again--it blows my mind that we were buying groceries mere yards from the Pacific Ocean), where we stocked up big time, including a turkey for T-Day! :) We got back home right around noonish, and as soon as we unpacked our purchases, we were out and about again. Took the bus up to 10th Ave to check out our local library, which has just recently been renovated. VERY nice, we'll need to take our cameras next time. They even have a little playground for the little ones on the 10th Street side! [Note: the mini-playground has that recycled-tire spongy surface. Back in my day we had ROCKS! And GRAVEL! And...and BLACKTOP! And WE LOVED IT! And get offa my lawn, ya little snits!)]

Walked all the way back home...a good mile or so of walking, but it's easy and quick, and we stopped for lunch at a Chinese restaurant right at the end of our block. Very tasty food, good service, and their Muzak was cracking me up--I wasn't sure if it was Asian easy-listening pop or some sort of Asian gospel music...light pop music played on an organ. :p

And now we're home...I'm taking a break from moving stuff around in the back room library/office room. So far I've consolidated all of the CDs, tapes and videos into four boxes, I've got two boxes of stuff to give to Goodwill, I've created a "stuff" storage tub that may end up in my closet (I currently have nothing on the floor in there), a bag of trash, another bag of stuff to be shredded and/or recycled, and getting all my pictures, cards and etc stuff all in one place. Not sure where I'll put them, but I'll figure something out. Again, this may bleed into tomorrow as well, at least the filing/sorting/recycling part of it, while watching football. ;)

So yeah...just hitting 5pm and we've gotten a LOT done today. Can't complain... :)

EDIT: OH! We saw a Tesla Roadster on the way back from Target--never saw one of those before! Very nice car! :)

Hey Lynxie--

Since I'll be getting rid of a goodly amount of my music collection and comics, would you be interested in snagging it? Music would include tapes, cds and vinyl (yeah, I'm most likely going to give you that Men w/o Hats album). Comics would include a lot of stuff that you probably already have (late 90s to early 00s Marvel supers titles mostly).

Let me know if you're interested.

Also, when I finally drop my car off at my family's house just before we move, is there a possibility you could drive up with me so I can get a ride back?

I had Cake's "Frank Sinatra" in my head this morning, so I decided that Fashion Nugget was the cd of the morning. That, and Soul Coughing coming next. I've also had "Screenwriter's Blues" in my head due to the upcoming move. ;) Thus the subject line.

Lots of stuff happening. For those of you who haven't heard, the transfer offer has been officially made, so it looks like we might be moving out to San Francisco at the beginning of the year. This means that a lot of moving my stuff down here (stuff that I don't sell or throw away, that is) in the next few weeks. Don't know when I'll do that, but it looks like some time next month.

Because of this, it looks like I might not have time to join NaNoWriMo again this year, but this time it's not due to work or other writing projects getting in the way. So although I might not be able to officially do NaNo, I will most likely end up trying anyway.

---------

For those of you whom I've forgotten to add to the friends list, I have my new writing-only LJ up. My LJ user name is [livejournal.com profile] die_joncswerk but the site itself will be called Scribble Diem (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] camilla_anna for the suggestion!). I posted an introductory entry there this morning, so if you didn't get it and would like to be able to read it, let me know and I'll add you the flist. :)

---------

Saw the latest commercial for Smallville. Did I see that right? Aquaman is on there??? Is he getting his own show, or is this just a cameo? And is there any reason they chose a guy who looks more like beefcake than an actor? And why does the logo for his name look like a toothpaste logo?? To paraphrase what [livejournal.com profile] lynxreign said last night, I think they just jumped the shark. Or in this case, swam under it. ;)

---------

Speaking of TV, I found myself actually liking Gilmore Girls. Not enough to go out of my way to watch it, but it's a good show to pass the time with. :)

---------

NEW DEPECHE MODE CD OUT THIS WEEK! Reviews say this is their best and darkest record since Violator, and from what I've heard of the new single, I think they're right. It's got the feel of their pre-Black Celebration stuff, but with the updated synth sounds of Ultra. It sounds promising.

Unfortunately I won't be able to go see them this year, which is annoying but I'll live. I've seen them on all the tours since Violator. It's kind of strange, really, that they're the band I've seen the most times live, and they don't put on as spectacular a show as they ought to, but I love going to see them anyway.

More soon. Gotta get back to work!

Had a very odd dream this morning where I trashed someone's bedroom. Out of rage and/or nervous breakdown, I grabbed books off of shelves and glass tchotchkes off of bureaus, pleased to see them crashing to the floor and breaking into pieces. Then I grabbed a small chair and proceeded to smash a window to bits. And the thing is, I really didn't feel angry at all. It felt more like a release, like I'd finally let go of my bearings and went crazy. Even the person whose room I trashed came in, looked around, and was rather impressed. I was convinced I'd lost it, as once I stopped, I looked at the carnage and realized what I'd done and knew I'd have to be responsible for it, but wasn't worried about it.

Relieving stress now that the party is over? Perhaps, but I don't think so. I wasn't angry-stressed about the party at all. I really don't know where it came from.

....

In other news, I've got a pile of folders that need destapling, and I think I may just stretch this one out to the entire day, as the pile's quite big. Someone dropped off a goodly amount of stuff in my absence so I've got work to do! I believe I might do a bit of pre-NaNo note taking today as I do this, just to keep myself from going nuts.

Also, I'm contemplating opening up another LJ account--a free one, actually--that will be friends-only so I can post my writing. Comments about writing will still be here at RTS, but the writing itself will be over at the new place. I'll post links to it here when I put something new up and someone wants to read who isn't friended already. So yeah--see the next post for a poll concerning this! :)

....

Things To Do This Week:
1. Check info on car insurance. Gotta do this soon!!!
2. Deposit money/checks. Doing this today!
3. Continue with NaNo notes, start outline.
4. Look for thank-you cards at local stationery store, if Emm doesn't beat me to it.

That's it for now, kids. See the poll coming up soon!
