Ah...I'm quite happy that I don't have to go to work tomorrow...it being Sunday already, it seems this weekend is going by too fast!

Yesterday [livejournal.com profile] emmalyon and I drove up to Napa for the day. I'm still amused by the fact that we can consider wine country as a day trip for us... :p Anyhoo, drove to downtown Napa and did some shopping and whatnot. They're doing some big-time renovating there, as a good number of stores have shut down (including a really good bookstore *snif*), but some new, shinier stores are going up. Emm and I have a feeling that the plan was to jack up rent to kick out old stores and replace them with other stores once they retrofit/revitalize/etc. the place. Sad, but expected (and I think this is why I kind of enjoy Sonoma more). On the plus side, Emm got to stop at Yarns on First, a really nice, well-stocked yarn store that we stopped at last time we were up there.

OH! OH! Interruption here--THERE'S A SONIC ON THE WAY UP TO NAPA!!! SQUEE!!!

*ahem*

Anyway, after that, we checked out the new Taylor's Refresher (the same Taylor's up in St Helena and also here in SF at the Ferry Building) and had a really fattening lunch, and next door they have The Oxbow Public Market, which is basically a shortened yet equally crowded version of our Ferry Building, full of food stalls, stores and nifty things. Much food was eaten, enough that we had to forego stopping at Sonic on the way back as we'd planned.

Last thing at Napa was stopping at Bel Aire Plaza, which had a HUGE Copperfield's Books. Huge in the sense that it was very well mapped out--I love a bookstore with a lot of floor space where you're not running into people/things/bookcases. As usual, I picked up two (including the new Christopher Moore! Yay!) but Emm picked up four. Yeah, we're bad. The plaza also had a Target and a Whole Foods, so we picked up a few needed things both places as well. Including some flavors of Rachel's Yogurt that we can't seem to find anywhere else! :)

By the time we got home? SO. TIRED. We got back around 5pm and proceeded to sit around and watch random stuff on TV and reading before we passed out. Such was our Saturday!

----

Today? Not much going on...it's been a cool overcast weekend so far--LOTS of fog and a slightly chilly breeze--but we don't have much planned. We may go up to Rogue for lunch (where I will most likely have the first of this season's hot dogs--Kobe beef, mind you!--though Emm already had hers at Taylor's yesterday), but other than that, we're probably going to do our food shopping tomorrow. I may stop for more quarters for laundry, though. Yeah, I know, I'm obsessed with laundry. ;)

----

Completely random, off-topic thing--I just found out the other day that my cellphone has Ms Pac Man on it. The temptation is great, so I'm going to do my best to avoid playing it when I should do something more productive.

----

ANYWAY.

Tomorrow? Not sure what's on the schedule, aside from possible food shopping. Either today or tomorrow I'll be working more on the Trilogy Project again. Expect a [livejournal.com profile] jonchaisson post about it soon, as well as a long-awaited [livejournal.com profile] edencycle update. It's weird, but I'm feeling oddly blissfully happy that I've picked the trilogy up again...I think it's time again. :D

----

OBLIGATORY MUSIC UPDATE:

Yesterday at Target, bought the new Green Day and Airborne Toxic Event CDs...haven't listened to them yet, but I love what I've heard so far.

ALSO:

Continuing on the transferring of "radio tapes" to mp3, and it's kind of fun. Every now and again I've been finding a song I've completely forgotten or didn't know was on the tape, and being pleasantly surprised. Also, a number of my non-radio compilations have some tracks I don't have that I'm also transferring to mp3, and those are also interesting. One of the amusing things is realizing that I now have the b-side to M's "Pop Muzik" in my collection, but not "Pop Muzik" itself. Go figure.

----

Other than that...hope everyone's having a good long weekend! :D

EDIT Good god, I had way too many smileys in this one. Edited to cut most of them out. Man, that's a bad habit!!!

Ah, vacation. It's about time.

What we've done so far:
Saturday: drove down to Gilroy--the Garlic Capital of the World!--to the Gilroy Premium Outlets to buy stuff. And buy we did...new clothes for both of us, and an unexpected purchase--a new complete set of Calphalon cookware and a new grill pan at their outlet store. Ooh, shiny!
Sunday: not too much...hung out at the North Beach Festival up the hill at Washington Square Park. Had fun listening to a local classical string quartet who were phenomenal, followed by random Clash music between sets. And also found a new restaurant that reminds me of New England (finally--yay!): North Beach Lobster Shack. THEY HAVE CLAM ROLLS. Life is good. :)

Today it's a nice sunny day here in San Francisco, and plans to be a hot one across the bay in Berkeley. Why there? Because [livejournal.com profile] emmalyon and I are heading over there via BART later on this morning for a day of walking around, shopping and whatnot. Chances are quite good that a visit to Comic Relief (apparently one of the best comic book stores in the Bay Area, from what I've heard) and the original Amoeba Music store is in order. Emm's a little sad that the yarn store up there is not in the immediate area, but I shall attempt to bring her there or to some yarn store this week. ;) We will also be walking around the Shattuck and Telegraph Street areas, as well as part of the UC Berkeley campus. Pictures of course will be taken.

Other plans this week include:
--The Osamu Tezuka Exhibit at the Asian Art Museum
--A trip up to the North Bay, including the original Taylor's up in St. Helena (as seen on Food TV! :p ), Napa, a yarn store named Muse, and maybe a trip to the Charles Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa (a maybe--we might reschedule that for a different weekend).
--The Great Book Purge. We are definitely planning to weed out our collection and finally get around to rearranging it so it's in some semblance of order. More than likely that will take place later on in the week. Chances are good that we will be posting our purge on LJ for all to peruse for snaggage soon after.
--Watching more of our DVDs that we plan on eventually getting rid of. These are most likely going to be the "bought it because it was cheaper than renting" movies. ;)

...and that's about it.

So yeah, going to enjoy this week, kicking back and having fun. Will post pictures and other stuff soon!

Oh--and confidential to [livejournal.com profile] lynxreign: After a lively conversation about Semisonic/Trip Shakespeare with Emm last night, it occurs to me that a few of our cds are still in your possession, ones I'd taken out of the car and meant to pack when we moved but forgot. I believe there are 2 Semisonic cds, and 2 compilation cds (with the IMF logo drawn on them) in white cd envelopes. If you see them in your unpacking/perusing/purging, PLEASE send them our way!!
