Hey
Feb. 27th, 2010 01:10 pmMy Day So Far
Jan. 22nd, 2009 09:29 amWork (WAH)
So far so good. Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing's fallen apart (yet), and no client has come rushing in with twenty emails yelling 'OMG I NEED FILES FROM 2005 STAT' all in caps (yet). Can't complain. I'm taking my first break right now.
Weather
Rain. Not a lot of it, but it's consistent, and it looks like it'll be staying for the next few days. After a fluke of a few weeks where not only was it sunny but warm as well, looks like we're swinging back to the typical San Francisco weather, which is lots of rain. Which is actually a good thing, as that means more snow up near Tahoe and a lot less flammable dry grass later in the year. ;)
Health
I did good and worked for a full half-hour on the Wii Fit yesterday, go me! Yeah, I know, this isn't nearly as good as doing the actual exercise of running, doing weights and whatnot, but every little bit helps. Being that I haven't done squat in terms of exercise in years, it's a start, and a good one for me.
Neighborhood
Ooh, excitement galore! Diagonally across from us, they've got a ginormous crane and they're taking down old ventilation boxes and putting up shiny new ones. All while it rains! Also in other news, our apartment building is slowly but surely getting an overhaul. Our building is one that has wooden slat siding, and it looks a bit faded and worn. They just finished the other building in our complex and will eventually do ours, but at the moment they're working on the walkways and stairs. Our main stairway might be diverted at some point, too. Fun!
Other
I have my coffee,
emmalyon gave me a rather quirky birthday present (an antique map of southern New England circa somewheres around mid 1800's, I believe), and I've got my tunage going.
Sure, it's been a mundane birthday so far, but I have no problem with that. :)

Sunday Morning
Oct. 19th, 2008 10:02 amGot my coffee, got the Giants/49ers game on the TV, got my computer up to do some writing...no pressing errands, no other plans for today...things are good. :)

Had an odd dream this morning. I dreamed that I was dreaming about one of those stunt-car-crash shows and watching how some kids in the audience were laughing their asses off, even though the crashed cars were sliding perilousl close to them. When I woke up in the dream I was at my parents' house and explaining the dream to my sister, when I was informed by my dad that I had to go out and shovel. I looked out the kitchen window and saw that there was a good couple of inches of snow outside.
When I woke up for real, I realized the window was still open and it was a bit chilly outside, and that may have influenced the dream about it being cold and snowy.
My brain is weird sometimes.
---
The last two fingers on my right hand are sore, but I'm not entirely sure why. I may have banged them on something and forgotten what...it feels like the aftermath of having whacked them against a door jamb or something. Weird. Maybe I'm getting arthritis. :p
---
It came a bit late, but I realized where I was going wrong with Chapter 6 of CFMWH. I was taking the easy, boring route with a storyline, so I threw a few wrenches in there. Also, just moments before I powered down for the night, I quickly typed out some prompts of the chapter's storyline that I can work off of, and they work SO much better. I think that was also the problem I was having--I was trying to plot out the entire chapter without making those quick notes first, and it was taking three times as long. I think if I resort to these prompts, it could work better and quicker.
---
Note to self: time to charge up the Dana again. I may need to use it again pretty soon.
---
Is it bad that I want to stay in my jammies (and socks that Emm made me) for most of the morning and just relax? Yes, I thought so too. ;)

Best Political Quote EVAR:
Powell also spent several moments discussing the false rumors that Obama is a Muslim, saying he was upset he had even heard the rumors from senior Republicans.
"What if he is? Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country?" he asked. "The answer is no."
(yoinked from a WaPo article, quoting this morning's Obama endorsement on Meet the Press.)

So...how's the weekend been for you?

Christmas Eve Day Morn
Dec. 24th, 2007 06:24 amWakey wakey!
It's about 6:25 here and I have to head out in about 20 minutes to go to work.
Yes, I have to work. *sigh* At least it's a half-day and I'm getting out at 1pm, just in time to do some last-minute shopping (I'm a guy, what do you expect?? :p ) and also head over to the Post Office and give them an earful once again because one of their drivers is a Frikkin' Idiot Slacker who won't drop off packages.
Good thing is that it's going to be a slow day, I'm still in training (and most likely will be for a few more weeks), and Emm set up the coffeemaker so I got java at home this morning! :)
Have a swell Christmas Eve Day, kids! Will most likely post tomorrow afternoon to report what loot I received...in the meantime, go have some fun, stay warm, and drink some nog! :)

Sunday Afternoon Post
Sep. 23rd, 2007 05:20 pmOkay, San Francisco, I give up. It's cloudy and cold this morning, cool in our neighborhood, windy at the top of Nob Hill, cool in Noe Valley...
...and now it's warmish and clear skies. Like I said before--New England has nothing on SF's version of the "if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes" joke.
Anyway, it was a nice short afternoon trip up to Noe Valley, which we haven't done in awhile. Thanks to Peasant Pies for the tasty lunch, and thanks to Phoenix Books for being such a cool bookstore that always has something I end up buying! :) Oh, and thanks to the coffee place (I think it's Tully's, but it could be Martha & Bros...I don't remember) that gave us free coffee! :)

Sunday Morning Coming Down
Jun. 24th, 2007 09:21 amHey ho...
Well, it's the last day of our vacation, and oddly enough I feel ready to head back to work. Not that I'm looking forward to answering phones again, but at least I don't feel like I'm dreading it like I may have in the past. Either way, it's time for me to get back into the groove of things after a week of slacking off!
So, to recap, things we did this week:
--shopped at Gilroy Prime Outlets
--visited Berkeley
--saw the Osamu Tezuka exhibit at the Asian Art Museum
--visited Japantown
--went to see Paprika
--finally visited a local corner coffeehouse (twice!) and deemed it excellent
--watched quite a few dvds
--weeded out our book and dvd collections
--got a lot of walking in
--drank more coffee than I really should have
We didn't get everything done that we might have wanted to do, but then again we did a LOT of stuff to begin with...and next weekend we'll finally set up a reservation at Bix Restaurant for our anniversary. Thanks to my sister for the gift certificate for it! :)
Other than that...not much to report. Didn't get much writing in this week, but I didn't plan on getting much done anyway, using the time instead to relax and have fun. I'm torn between continuing the going to work early and writing or just forcing myself to get some work done here before I leave...I'll have to think about that. More about writing at my writing blog!
On tap today: we might head up to Washington Square Park to enjoy the day, hang out while Emm knits and I do some writing or reading, and we may end up stopping at our usual haunt (Tiernan's, natch) today as well. I forgot to pick up quarters yesterday, so I may or may not be able to do laundry (no real big, as I did some on Wednesday, so there's not much) (which reminds me, I should have gotten more quarters so I can get our car washed, which it desperately needs). Other than that, there's the LGBT Pride Parade going on today which is being shown on our local TV station (and George Takei is one of the special guests of honor!), and there's always more writing to do... :p
Hope everyone has a spiffy day!
