jon_chaisson | Weekend Update Comes Clean

I really don't mind spending an hour or so at Rainbow Wash down the street and doing the laundry there -- it's only two blocks away, there's a mom and pop store across the way, and a coffeehouse next door if I need the caffeine. And besides, I've been using the time by getting some longhand writing done, so it's not like I'm wasting the day. I go through twice as many quarters, though, but that's my only major complaint.

Still, I'll be happy when our building gets a new machine again. I've heard tell that the maintenance crew is trying to talk the manager into getting two stack machines (washer on bottom, dryer on top), which would definitely help. There's twelve apartments in our building, so weekends often end up with a wait list. Also, before the washer gave up the ghost I used to do mine on weekdays during work hours, when most everyone else in the building was out. Right now I've been heading over to Rainbow right after we do our grocery shopping so I can have the rest of the day free. We'll be on a trip next weekend, so that might be an issue (or more to the point, depending on when we get home, I'll be heading over to Rainbow in the late afternoon/early evening).

I'll have to prod the maintenance guys again to see where we stand on the machines...
