Wow. I can finally call myself a published author now.

It's still sinking in. How many years did it take me to get to this point? And compared to that, how few months did it take for me to go from making the decision to reality? I'm still amazed by it all.

But yeah...it's official, A Division of Souls is now available for sale! :D

Woo-hoo-hoo!!! Congratulations! And happy book day!!!

Will you actually sell at Amazon and Barnes & Noble, too? Or, just from Smashwords?

Thanks!! :D

I'm on sale a lot of different places including B&N, just not listed at Amazon (yet). With Amazon you have to kind jump over a bunch of ridiculous and confusing hurdles, so I'm kind of holding off on that to see if it's worth it. Maybe in a month or so. I've been contemplating using CreateSpace for physical copies as well, if it comes to that.

On the plus side, I've been telling everyone that *ALL* formats are available at Smashwords, as I'm making mobi (Kindle) available there as well. [There's also the fact that I get a slightly higher percentage if one buys straight from there. Heh.]

The really neat thing was finding myself listed in the ebook section of my local book store, Green Apple Books! A lot of brick & mortar stores sell e-books thru Kobo, so I know I can be found in stores that have that set up. :)

At Amazon, just choose the lower 35%-ish royalty rate and opt out ofKDP Select. You will make less, BUT you have your freedom to publish elsewhere. Totally worth the compromise. You need Amazon but don't sell your soul to them. (and you went with Smashwords! Excellent choice!)

Also - Congratulations! This is BIG! Welcome to the world of Indie Publishing. Now get out and promote yourself to bits!

Thanks! :D

Yes, that was actually my plan! I was actually going to do the Smashwords and Amazon route in tandem but realized it would be easier to stagger the release instead. Will most likely be doing this in the next few weeks!

I find smashwords handy for one more bonus reason - you can download your book in all the imaginable formats, from .mobi on down to .txt. Nice to have for sending review copies, or sharing with family, whatnot. Just good to have all those formats at your fingertips.
