[Pictures] A Walk in the Park
Jun. 18th, 2011 03:40 pmThis morning we checked out the Picasso exhibit at the de Young and later walked through the Botanical Gardens in GGP, and took quite a few pictures. I posted the Garden pictures on my Tumblr, but thought I'd post a few pix here that were taken from the de Young Museum Tower.
Starting with...

We're at the other side of the Music Concourse here. Local artists sell their wares here on the weekends sometimes, and I'm always bound to see someone performing tai chi or kendo. The de Young Museum is in the background, with its oddly-shaped tower in the background.
(And of course, all this morning my brain was going "He was only 5 foot 3, girls could not resist his stare..." :p )

Downtown, looking over Hayes Hill. The TransAmerica building is just a little over three miles away.

A view of the Richmond District. The strip of trees cutting through the neighborhood is Park Presidio Avenue. If you notice way on the right, the Golden Gate Bridge is just peeking over the hills of the Presidio. The Marin Headlands are in the background.

Detail of the neighborhood. More specifically, ours! We often use that tall apartment building as a marker to figure out where our place is, as it's the tallest building in the neighborhood at seven stories. In the lower center you'll see a long brick building is Alamo Elementary just a street behind us. The lighthouse across the bay there is the tip of Fort Barry.

The music shell (officially the 'Spreckels Temple of Music') at the head of the Music Concourse. We've seen a few concerts here on the weekends when we stop to visit.

St. Ignatius Church on the corner of Fulton and Parker Streets. It's part of the USF main campus, and visible from quite a few places, especially the Lincoln Park/Legion of Honor parking lot.
