23: Upon Waking
Jan. 23rd, 2011 05:13 pmUpon waking I take a few moments
Before the stretch and the yawn
I let my mind settle itself
Let it decide which reality it wants to stay in
Dreams already disintegrating
Their logic already falling apart
Leaving me only with images and ideas
and untethered emotions and thoughts
I lie there on the bed
Debating if I should get up
Take a moment to remember what day it is
And plan on the day's direction
Dreams already forgotten
Replaced by the frustrations of the day
Leaving only the barest of threads
Later to be picked up mnemonically
To be remembered at the strangest of moments
And linked to the most unexpected of meanings
