He was hung over from yesterday's tea parties and needed to just phone this one in today.

He's a moron. Jeans are as American as it gets. Sure, he has a throwaway line about Levi Strauss, but he doesn't reall understand it.

This is a part of Right Wing class warfare and you can tell when he says "This is not complicated. For men, sartorial good taste can be reduced to one rule: If Fred Astaire would not have worn it, don't wear it. For women, substitute Grace Kelly."

So suits during the day and tuxes at night for men and women wear gowns 90% of the time. Oh, and long loose scarves that wrap around the rear axle and snap their necks. That last part is likely why he didn't pick Ginger Rodgers.
He didn't pick Kathering or Audrey Hepburn 'cause both were known to wear pants.

Huh? Is that from a movie or something?

Ginger Rodgers lived to a ripe old age. Grace Kelly was killed in the manner described above while still fairly young.
Oh, and of course, she was royalty. And you know how Right Wingers love their Royals!

I think you are thinking of Isadora Duncan. Though Grace Kelly did die from a car accident (after suffering a stroke whilst driving). I think?

My mistake. I thought it was Grace Kelly. Either way, she died when young enough to fit their model.

So are you trying to say that conservatives want their women to die young and violently?

I'm not not saying it!

On the other hand, I don't completely disagree with him. When I look to see how some kids are dressed at school I am often quite embarrassed for them. Clearly the parents either don't know or don't care that their kids dress the way they do, and that is pretty sad in some cases. (For the record, I am not referring to blue jeans.)

There has got to be a middle road of appropriate attire in our daily lives. Maybe it would be a good example for us adults to put the jeans away, at least when not doing yardwork. At least, I don't think it would necessarily hurt.

If he had written the same article, but substituted 'hoochie mama wear' and 'juicy short shorts,' for 'blue jeans,' I totally would've been on board.

Or even if his thesis was "I want fedoras to come back into fashion."
