Onward and upward!

Okay, list of ten things to do:

1. Start digging out the more spiffy duds that I have, clean them, and get them ready to move.
2. Start gathering old duds that I don't wear anymore and give them to the shelter.
3. Write, dammit! WRITE!
4. Keep up with the job search.
5. Start making more long-term plans, re: job, apartment, money saving, etc.
6. Start whittling down the piles of stuff around the house, throw things away, shred old documents, etc.
7. Put cds away that I have littered all around my writing desk.
8. Do a bit of shopping w/[livejournal.com profile] emmalyon this weekend for new duds.
9. Contemplate buying a few "...for Dummies" books re: clerical job stuff like PowerPoint and Outlook.
10. Try to figure out why I'm snoring like a banshee at night lately...

I found a job opening in Jersey City, as an Operations Supervisor at a warehouse for PepsiCo. And as you all know, Mountain Dew is made by Pepsi. Nothing good can come of this, you know... ;) (and btw, I told Emm about this, and she answered back with "...so how's their dental plan?" Hee!)

In other news, I seemed to have pulled a muscle in my lower back again, this time due to slippery surfaces underneath the snow when I plowed on Saturday. It's better today, but for the last few days it really hurt. Keeping busy at work today seemed to help it, strangely enough, and it's not hurting nearly as bad as it was yesterday. Such is the life of a shipper...*sigh* :p I will be so happy when I don't have to deal with lifting heavy-ass boxes eight or nine hours on end...

As you can see, I didn't make the one-year schedule of finishing Book 3. Ah well, no biggie. At least I'm getting there! Lots of action, a lot of secrets revealed, and things are falling into place. I will, of course, need to iron out everything once I start the rewrite for Book 3 (which brings me to the fact that I'll have to do a bit of tweaking for the previous 2 as well, to tie everything together seamlessly). As much fun as writing this was, I'll be glad when it's over!!

On that note, I should be writing right now... :p

We may have some MS software books somewhere in the house. Or you could just, y'know, ask me and Lynx when you need anything, since we work with that stuff all the time. Or(even better!)ask Rtrockel from some book recommendations!
Oh yes, and:
"Throw away,
Throw away, throw away the trash...."

Don't waste your money on the for Dummies books. Powerpoint is dead easy, and all Outlook is is an email program with a calendar and contacts. If you really need a ramp up on these things, come see me. I have books and can get you where you need to be.

Sweet! Thanks! :) I kinda figured that both of those were easy...I'd have probably picked up those books just to make sure I actually did know what they were all about.

Curious: What is it that you would like to do for a job? Dream Job? (I understand that you are a writer...have any day-job type goals in that direction?) Curious, because I have no idea.

Hmm...well, my dream job would of course to be able to write SF full-time. :) Don't know if/when that would happen, but it's something to strive for.

And after working in a shipping/receiving environment since '96, I'd really like to do something different, like, say, write feature articles for a magazine. Specifically music mags, since I'm a bona fide music geek. ;) Lacking that, any magazine where I know what I'm writing about would be mint. :)

Then those are the jobs to which I would apply! Shoot high, my friend, shoot high!
