Jan. 2nd, 2005 09:17 pmSo here it is, the second of January. I wonder how many days it will be before I accidentally write "2004" on something.
I just got back from a wonderful, romantic and fun weekend with
emmalyon. The weather was with us and we grilled steak out on the deck in 50 degree weather, watched movies, went shopping (B&N is the bane of both of our existences), and generally had a great time. I'm hoping to go down there again in two weeks for the MLK Day weekend.
Which brings me to the fact that I am taking the plunge...tomorrow I am about to start posting and emailing my resume to places in New Jersey. Phase 1 will start tomorrow. It feels kind of weird, like I'm toying with the comfort zone I've had for so many years at home, but on the other hand I need to get out of that zone, simply because I don't need it anymore. It's time for me to move onward and upward. And I think I'm incredibly lucky that I've been offered this opportunity to share this move with someone I love and care about deeply.
So yeah. Changes. Lots of 'em coming up soon.
More on this later.
And on a side note: I had WAAAAAAAAAAAY too much sugar this weekend. Cake, coffee, and other delectables with that cursed additive. I'm sure I'll be bouncing off the walls for the next few days...

Also, see if you can use teh cell # of someone down there or somethign with a local area code. Probably get bettter responses. I know I did when I was moving from NH to MA and looking for jobs.
Lastly, our moms met at the grocery store the other day. Your mom said she was really happy about this whole relationship thing and had no worries about Emma at all, since you had met her through me and ali. I thought that was wicked sweet.

Date: 2005-01-03 01:18 pm (UTC)That's awesome. She hasn't really said much about it, except that she's just worried about me driving down there so often!
And yeah, I'll think about that cell # thing. It never occured to me, but that makes sense. I could always hand them Emm's number, since I'll most likely be roosting there until we find something of our own.
On a side note, I was convinced that you were going to make a joke of my "sugar" reference...:p

Date: 2005-01-03 02:16 pm (UTC)That dear, sweet, naive woman....
Seriously, that's really good to hear, since I have been a wee bit apprehensive about being perceived as "that hussy luring our baby out of state".
From Joncwriter's Big Sis
Date: 2005-01-07 12:46 am (UTC)This is Joncwriter's oldest sis - thought I'd say a few words.
(You can verify that I'm really his Sis because I'm the
one who gave him that Hawaiian fish hat -
Humuhumunukunukuapua'a !)
Being the oldest sib and the first to leave the nest (been married
for 15 years, likewise we met through a mutual friend :-)),
I just want to say that I can appreciate taking such a big step. :-)
I just want to see my baby brother happy - and he sure seemed to
be happy when I saw him over the holidays! Plus, it will just give
us another place to visit! ;-) (Ask him about all the times we moved
him and his stuff while he was in college! ;-))
Treat him right, take care of him, respect him and you will receive
the same. :-)
Will miss ya, little brother (don't see ya as often anyway)- but I'll
looking forward to meeting Emma sometime!

Shake it up, Baby...
Date: 2005-01-03 02:04 pm (UTC)Somethin' to think about anyway...
The thing is, even tho' it's all scary and crazy and freaky, you KNOW that this will be a good situation, regardless! Not all changes have that guarantee!
Go for it!!!!! We'll be here to root along for you!

Date: 2005-01-04 11:59 pm (UTC)You have to tell me everything. You've kept me out of the loop, I feel so lost! WAH!
BTW, That's awesome that you're thinking about moving to Jersey. Run from Mass while you still have your legs. Run Jon, run!
