So emmalyon came up with a good title for my freelance travel articles-in-progress: Off the Waterfront. I believe I will be asking her for titles from here on in, because I can never come up with good ones that aren't stolen from song titles. I plan on writing up some articles this week.


And in other news, the newer media player I'm using, MediaMonkey, is actually kind of fun to work with and tweak, causing me to waste an entire weekend playing with it rather than doing work. Come to find out, I can in fact list the songs by artist, then chronologically. So much so that it accepts full dates and not just years--this means I can be an ubergeek and list the date of release. Something I've been wanting to do for some time. TEH AWESOME.


And in other other news, apparently when the Olympic torch comes through town on Wednesday, it will be going past apartment. This will be very cool. [NOTE: Now, I understand the protesting going on, and to some extent I agree with them, but I'm really hoping it doesn't turn into a free-for-all by the time it heads past my place...]

Do you have your bucket of water ready?
I don't know if it'll get as far as your place. The route was disrupted many times in England and France to the point where they put out the torch and jumped into a waiting car.

When I was living in the dorm at OSU in '96, one Saturday morning I was awoken by cheering crowds outside my window. I looked out and aw a guy with a torch running by, surrounded by motorcycle cops. Took me a minute to piece it together.

That wasn't the olympic torch. That was the guy that set off "fireworks" in the old prison that caused the damage that let them tear it down and build the soccer stadium. The police were told to give chase, but not too hard and to let him get away.

We had the torch past here when the Winter Games were bought and paid for in Salt Lake City. That was kind of cool.

First: That's so cool! I'd love so see them when they hop on the water skis to start their trans-Pacific portion of the run. :)
