I heard End Of The World As We Know It by REM on an oldies station almost 10 years ago. I was shocked. The song wasn't even 15 years old yet! Of course, I guess it's inevitable now, what with time marching on and all that hoo-hah.
Yep, remember, we're the old farts now that don't trust anyone under 30. ;)
BTW, according to the community theclassicsound, it's considered a classic if it's fifteen years or older. This scares me, as 15 years ago...I GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE.
Oldies stations have been playing BJ with frightening regularity for years now, sadly enough...
Case in point--a few years ago when I was working at Yankee Candle, the local classic station had it in for me, because they played "Piano Man" EVERY. SINGLE. FRIKKIN'. DAY. Sometimes TWICE. For THREE MONTHS STRAIGHT. It got to the point that I would visibly convulse and scream every time it came on.
I'm thinking that "Piano Man" is right up there with alternatives to waterboarding in terms of torture.
A few months ago, an '80s oldies CD came across my desk. I don't remember what I yelled, but I know I yelled. Loudly enough that one of my co-workers asked me what was wrong. (And laughed at me when I told him.)
