Are denim jackets out of style or something? I can't seem to find them anywhere...and the places I have found them only have a VERY small stock and never in my size. We've gone to Old Navy, Eddie Bauer, and even the big honkin' Levi's store in Union Square.

Nada.

Perhaps I'm a little out of season and they won't be available for a little longer, but still...are they out of style to the point that no one seems to want to sell them anymore?

Oh, and question to half the clothing websites I've been looking at--thanks for telling me that you have the sizes available...but it would be nice to tell us exactly what said sizes would equate TO if I actually measured myself, other than "TALL" and "BIG". Actual numbers might help.

*sigh*

For women, no. For men, yeah, they are. Plus it's kind of the wrong season to be looking for a denim jacket, try towards the end of the summer when everyone's putting their Fall stuff out.

That would probably explain a few things. And it looks as though bulky hoodies are all the rage at the moment. Ah well. Still, I want one anyway...they seem to be the perfect jacket for the weird weather in this city, and I've already got one of those all-weather jackets.

I will say that I have been looking for them all year round, with little success. I ended up going to Sheplers.com and found a nice one.

And in all honesty, when have I ever been fashionable...? ;)

The general feeling, at least amongst the female populace, is that denim jackets are still "in" but that they are not to be worn with any other denim because it is too "cowboy" or "gas station attendant." Personally I think the latter is a crock. Gas station attendants wear dickies. So the so-call fashion police really haven't got any clue.

This rule is probably more limited to women than men since men really aren't supposed to care about fashion and the ones that do kind of scare me to a point.

At any rate, they're still around but most stores probably won't be selling them until the spring/summer time since the fashion cycles are kind of in-between at the moment. Best bet is to get on amazon or one of the online retailers.

As far as sizing goes, tape measure is a good idea because most places go by measurement groups and you'll get a better fit if you know rather than guess. :)

Thankee! Come to find out, the site I ended up going to had a good measuring chart (which was sorely lacking in a lot of others).

But like I said in a different response, I've been looking for a new denim jacket for nigh on a year--through all seasons--without any luck.

And it's not as if I'm fashion-conscious to begin with, so if I look like a gas station attendant, so be it. :p
