The Year in Review Meme
Copy and paste the first few sentences of the first entry in each month from 2007. (No memes, quizzes, or dumb junk like that.)
January 1...in which I hit the ground--er, computer, running
So it's only 11am and I already have this nagging feeling that I should be writing, despite my having just finished a major project. I know that some time this afternoon I'll pull up the ol' MS Word and start typing away at something, though I'm not sure what.
February 1...in which I get new hardware
Yep, I broke down and bought another external hard drive.
March 1...in which there's a whole lotta shakin' goin' on
Just had another earthquake here...this time it was a bit stronger than usual, and lasted about 2-3 seconds, but no damage or anything. Just surprised us, is all! :p
April 1...in which we have a busy Sunday
--taking emmalyon to The Stinking Rose for lunch
--stopping at Artfibers afterwards
--perhaps stopping at City Lights as well
--do our taxes!!
--continue edit/rewrite of LLB if I have time left over
May 2...in which I wonder why I hadn't played hooky for religious reasons
First off, completely forgot to post that His Holiness the Dalai Lama came to San Francisco just a few days ago, and had I known about this earlier (and had the funds for the rather expensive tickets), I definitely would have gone to see him. I have to say that he's quite possibly one of the most inspiring people alive, in my opinion.
June 1...in which I go asquee about Beatles news
Beatles online deal seen for 2008: Harrison widow
WOOHOO!!!
And the reasoning behind the long wait?
They've been spending the last four or five years remastering the collection and creating new artwork and packaging. So am I going to buy the remastered stuff, even though I already have everything?
I think you know the answer to that one. ;)
July 1...in which I cheat the meme to celebrate a milestone
song #30000 added to my MusicMatch:
Clarence Clemons w/Jackson Browne, "You're a Friend of Mine".
The track that unintentionally introduced me to college radio in the first place.
(Note: The first post was something boring about writing that really should have been on

August 2...in which I kvetch--again--about my job
As of 8/15, my company has decided to block all non-company internet access (understandable, most people who have it now seem to be using it for MySpace anyway, with a few exceptions...I don't have access myself, so I don't care about that), and all non-company emails.
No exceptions. At ALL.
September 1...in which Emm and I go on a roadtrip
We just came back from our roadtrip today...for those who were wondering, we took off reeeeally early this morning to beat the traffic (the traffic that cannot go over the Bay Bridge at this moment due to construction) to head up to Sacramento for the California State Fair. For those of you back east in MA, yes, it's pretty much the same as the Big E. ;)
October 1...in which I weigh the pros and cons of redoing a roof
Good: Our Housing Management is redoing the roof. Yay!
Bad: Our apartment is usually stuffy when we get home, so we have to open windows.
Stinky: The tar heater-machine-doowacky is almost right underneath our windows. PHOOO!! *kaff kaff*
November 2...in which I explain why I can never do NaNoWriMo
Subject Heading: [Writing] Too Busy for NaNo...
...for the following reasons:
--busy (and possible good news, more on that later) at work
--working on LLB rewrite
--forgot about it until too late (despite half my flist going all asquee about it :p )
--other projects going on (including possible TCoDC idea formation)
--just getting back from vacation
At least these are mundane reasons, unlike the last few years:
--mandatory overtime sapping all the energy out of me
--preparing for a move to California
--too busy trying to finish a different novel
Ah well...one of these day's I'll do it...
December 2...in which my monitor goes all weird on me
My monitor seems to have gone all weird on me...everything is all washed out, and I can't seem to figure out how to change the brightness/contrast. Well, let me rephrase that: I do know how to change it (there are little buttons on the right side of it), and I've been futzing with it for the last twenty minutes, but nothing seems to help.
Will have to look into this, see what I can do to fix it. *grumble grumble*
***************
Well. A year that could have been a bit better, but all in all wasn't that bad. Every downside this year had an interesting, unexpected upside, and it all evened out in the end (at least as of 12/20/07 at 7:25pm PST, anyway).
Here's to hoping 2008 is an improvement! :)
