RULES:
1. List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.
2. Tag seven people to do the same.
3. Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag whoever wants to do it.

1. I draw maps. Not of any given place that exists--just made-up maps. This is something I've been doing since sixth grade. Perhaps it's an extension of when I used to play with my Matchbox cars out in the yard...but when I'm bored at work or elsewhere and I don't have time or space to do anything else, I draw maps. And yes, this has included drawing them on the computer using MS Paint.

2. I have been in the same room as two of the Beatles (Paul at one of his concerts, George at a record store), and been to Strawberry Fields in Central Park and touched the side of the Dakota (that counts as being near John, right?). I am yet to meet or see Ringo. In short, I am obsessed with the Beatles--not in an unhealthy way, and not as a collector of expensive rarities, but any and all music they may have put out. And I'm far from having everything, especially the solo stuff.

3. At one point in 2003 or so, my record/cd/cassette collection was somewhere around 5000 titles. I now have about 500 cds (about half of them [livejournal.com profile] emmalyon's), most of my vinyl is gone or being sold (aside from the Beatle-related titles--those I won't get rid of), and the only cassettes left are my compilation tapes which I still have. Almost all my music is now on my two external hard drives, and the number of songs (including duplicates) is now over 30000, most of it ripped from my former collection.

4. I have been attempting to write a war novel since 1984. In a recent post I said that I was putting it by the wayside for now, trying to distance myself from it. And now it's coming to bite me on the ass AGAIN. This damn thing won't go away.

5. I'm convinced I have ADD to some degree. Partly because my mind is going in about twenty places at once when I'm not superfocused on something (like at work). And also partly because I tend to trip up on my words when I talk, being that I'm trying to think of what I want to say while I'm saying it. Oh, and when I go to bed at night, I can never stay in one position for long and MUST turn over. And I overthink--it's taken me FOREVER to think of things to put on this list, and it shouldn't be this hard. Sheesh! *rolls eyes*

6. I have been putting a small pad in my left back pocket since ninth grade, along with at least one pen in blue and one in black. It originated as my way of remembering homework assignments, but is now used for shopping lists (including groceries, books and cds) and especially for writing purposes.

7. Not much of a quirk...but my habit of writing novels is to write each chapter as a separate file, rather than one long file as some other writers prefer. I find it a lot easier to work with (I usually print out a finished chapter and use the printed version as reference for later chapters), and also I find it a lot safer in case the computer goes kerflooey.

I, as another Aquarius, will reply to number 5. Could it be that you are just exceptionally good at multi-tasking? You just need to be trained to focus, grasshopper.

My job in Production is ALL about the multi-tasking...and that is why I excel at my job, in a technical way, that is. It is how I work on my artwork, too. However, multiple projects, but no deadlines, turns out to just be multiple projects with no deadlines. It is rare to have finished projects.

I think it's a sun sign thing. But it can be managed. :)

You know, I spent the day thinking about your response, and I have come to the conclusion that you're absolutely right. I am good at multitasking, I'm just out of practice. ;)

That, and I figure deadlines are definitely good--a few years back I'd given myself a deadline that I'd write a full novel in one year, and I did exactly that: 174547 first-draft words from start to finish in EXACTLY one year, five hours, and three minutes. ;) That's a LOT of words for that time.

I really think that is my problem--I haven't really given myself a deadline since the end of LLB.

*Goes into next room to kick own ass*
