Quick review? Two thumbs up!
Slightly longer review? Dude, we did not need to see that much splortchiness. And I'm actually kind of surprised that Dr. Manhattan's, er, Li'l Manhattan got as much screen time as it did. Other than that, I'm actually awaiting the DVD so I can see the even longer director's cut! ;)
I can see how it's been getting mixed reviews--if you think about it, it's not a movie for everyone. Those who really aren't into fantasy stories at all might find it heavy-handed, too involved and a bit confusing. Of course, there are those (*cough*comicgeeks*cough*) who might be let down about the changes that were made (I definitely saw some plot switcheroos, a few shortenings, and some omissions), but we can skip that. Point being, it's definitely an either love it or hate it movie.
