Hey New Englanders and other places with nasty cold weather! Got an email from my friend Tracey, who got it from her coworkers...

You may be eligible to receive reimbursement through FEMA for your ice storm related expenses.

Here is a link to check it out: http://www.fema.gov/assistance/index.shtm

You may have to file a claim with your insurance company first, then anything not covered may qualify for FEMA reimbursement. I was told that the reimbursements may also include generators, chain saws, etc.

Given FEMA's track record, it may be a few days weeks who the hell knows er, might take a bit of time for them to respond, but hey, thought I'd pass it on. :)

Those who know my penchant for music know that I've always said that Canada seems to have some of the best alternative bands out there--and not just the Barenaked Ladies. I'm talking about Sloan, Crash Test Dummies, Cowboy Junkies, Men Without Hats, Hot Hot Heat, Our Lady Peace, Sum 41, Nickelback, Finger Eleven...

And THE HIP. That is, The Tragically Hip, quite possibly THE most well known, most-loved band in Canada. I've been a fan since hearing Fully Completely in college, and their most well-known song, Grace, Too, is somewhere high up on my list of BEST SONGS EVAR.

So why do I say all this? Because I just had to share this: I'm on their mailing list, and they've just proved themselves by offering something in their Gift Shop that is uniquely Canadian.

Behold...A Shinny Pack, which includes a tuque, a scarf, and a puck. With a Tragically Hip logo shaped like the NHL logo.

That, my friends, is Officially AWESOME. :)
