[PC Tech Support]: HALP!
Oct. 4th, 2008 03:30 pmOkay, so over the past few days I noticed McAfee was saying I may have a trojan trying to screw with my hard drive. So, without further ado, I ran the McAfee and it quarantined a few things, so it should be working okay.
However, in doing so, now my printer won't work. I uninstalled, redownloaded drivers, and reinstalled it, but it's not working now. If I try to add the printer from the control panel, it comes up with the error of "Operation could not be completed. The print spooler is not running." I tried to reinstall the driver, but that craps out after a few seconds saying it's not working. And if I try to use Add Hardware, it gets close to working, only to stop at the end, saying the hardware's installed, but "an error occured during the installation of the device. The specified port is unknown."
And using the troubleshooter is pretty much pointless...
So yeah...apart from thinking my printer has finally given up the ghost due to the fact that it's at least 6 years old (although that may not actually be true, since it seems to be turning on okay, just that it doesn't want to converse with my PC), I'm at a loss. And I should add that everything else on my PC is running totally fine, nothing else is crashing.
