More on DMV stuff and Whatnot
Jul. 29th, 2006 04:51 pmBeen a slow, uneventful day, but Emm and I sort of planned it that way. We both have to wake up at 4am so we can leave for the airport by 5am. The Embarcadero is going to be closed due to the SF Marathon, so I've found a different way to get to US-101 and down to SFO, but leaving early will be good so I don't have to contend with weird traffic. All of this without plates on the car, as I had to take them off. Why, you say? Because I now have a "temporary permit" slapped on the side of the car that says I have until the end of September to get the smog certification taken care of. I was informed that now that the new registration is about to go through, I had to take off the old plates "as soon as possible". So sometime this week I'll drive to the 76 gas station down the street and have the smog thing taken care of, drive to the DMV, and get the plates.
Speaking of which, I found it quite surprising that they already have the plates RIGHT THERE already. I'm wondering if they have a pile of plates sitting in the back room, just waiting to be used... So yeah, by the middle of next week we'll have California plates.
Added to the fact that on Thursday I'll be going to the DMV again, this time to get my license switched over to CA. I'm not exactly sure if there's going to be late fees, as apparently the law sez I was supposed to do that within ten days of moving to CA, but we'll see. I've downloaded the PDF of the CA Driver's Handbook and for the most part it's the same as the MA one, so I shouldn't have a problem with the written test (36 questions, which is 26 more than the MA test!!). Then all will finally be taken care of. :)

Got my FedEx package from BofA this morning...it's one of those introductory folders that has all the fun information that goes along with orientation and stuff. I'll have to fill out the usual paperwork, get things sent out in the mail, etc. and go to my original building on Monday to take care of the I-9 and thumbprints and all that fun stuff. So eventually I'll start the new job. The official title is "Senior Customer Service Representative." I think it's a toss-up, as the "Senior" part sounds cool but the "CSR" part is kind of meh. ;) Hey, at least I'm not in retail and not doing telemarketing...
--------------
Not much writing done last night, but enough to say that the chapter is winding down. I just have to give the chapter a proper ending and then I can start on the next one. Five more to go and I'm done! :)

So yeah, rather uneventful day. Did laundry, had lunch, did a bit of shopping. Might do some writing, I'm not sure. Going to bed early tonight, which means I should probably set the VCR to tape tonight's anime on CN. Oh, the excitement...
