My Visit to the DMV and Other Stories
Jul. 28th, 2006 12:19 pmToday I took the car up to the DMV (it's up near the Haight district, across from the eastern end of the Panhandle) to have the registration taken care of. My appointment was at 10:20am, set up a few days ago on their website. I went in, told them what I needed, and they pointed me in the right direction. I had to get back in my car, drive up to the little carport on the side of the building, and let them check out under the hood. After that, a little more waiting. Picked up a number, sat down, waited some more. Got called, went up to the desk, and had the new registration processed. (Side note--apparently I didn't need most of the paperwork I'd brought with me--all I needed was a few forms and the NJ registration that was already in the car! :p ) Shelled out the money, was told I still had to take care of the smog certification, which I can do at any gas station. Was then told that when that was all taken care of, I could just pick up the new plates whenever I needed.
I get out of the parking lot and make my way home. Minutes later I'm heading up Divisadero, and happen to look at my watch.
11:05 am.
Damn, that was fast!

In other news, BofA made their official offering call today, which I of course accepted. The starting date is one week later than originally planned (due to paperwork processing), so I'm actually starting on the 7th rather than the first. I'll have to go in on Monday to fill out some of said paperwork, but other than that, it means I have another week off where I'm not doing anything. It kind of makes my schedule a little tighter, as I'm still taking the weekend off at the end of August for Worldcon--no getting out of that one.
-------
In Bohemian news, I'm about to record the last tape of TFB stuff that I've been putting on my external drive. It's one of the oldest tapes we have, 'The Compleat Bohemian', which has selections from our earliest tapes (the ones I don't have anymore--last I knew, Nathane had them but it's been years...). After that I'll be able to do some editing, mixing and resequencing and perhaps we'll finally have an official discography... :p
-------
In writing news, I think I got over 1000 words done last night over the course of a few hours, as I was really having fun with Gabriel's flashback sequence. I wanted to keep going, but it was getting late and I needed to get to bed! We'll see how far we can get tonight...
-------
So yeah, been a busy day so far, and it's hardly past noon!
