Days off, Retro Music, and other stuff
Jul. 24th, 2006 11:22 amToday starts my unexpected week off from work. As said in the last post, I'd expected this week to be the last week for my temp job, with my full-time position starting on August 1. So now I have to keep myself occupied for the next week and force myself not to stay up way too late/sleep late, because I know it'll screw with my sleep patterns for next week.
So what am I doing now?
Well, one thing that
head58 knows I'm up to is putting everything the Flying Bohemians ever committed to tape onto my computer for posterity/safekeeping. It's interesting just sitting here listening to the old tapes, something I haven't done in a few years to such an extent. I'm already finding some gems hiding in there that I'd forgotten about.
Also, I do expect to spend quite a good amount of time writing. I've been slacking off with Love Like Blood for awhile, getting very little done with it, so utilizing this time to get more words on the page than usual should help get me back on track. I'm also using this time to look at a few older things I've written and contemplate whether or not they're worth returning to sometime in the future. This includes my non-SF writing as well as my poetry.
What else...oh yes, I need to get Emm's/our car tuned up and inspected. I think I'll be doing that in the next few days, I'm just waiting for an answer from the garage. Said garage is actually the next block over from where I work, so if I have to do it at some future time while working, dropping it off is no problem at all.
Oh, and calling my future boss and asking two questions: A)how I'll be getting my badges when I come in next Tuesday and B)if I can get a few days off in October to go on vaca with Emm. I don't expect (B) to pan out, but if it does I'll be happy.
So yeah, I'm keeping busy and staying creative this week. No massive shredding job to do. No unpacking of anything. Go me! :p
