1. anime:
   Anime was a big influence on my writing back in the early 90's. My main problem was stories taking place in places that didn't exist in a timeline that didn't jive with real history. Anime made me realize that all I needed to do was switch my genre to SF.
   Oh--and the fact that emmalyon is as much of an otaku as I am makes me very very happy. :)
2. cartoons:
   Heh. Cartoons. I don't think I need to describe anything.
3. college radio:
   The reason I have such an insane music collection. Thank you, WAMH, WMUA, WECB, WERS, WECB, WZBC, and pretty much every other college station I've ever listened to.
4. depeche mode:
   The one band that I've seen the most, live. They're not even in my top three favorite bands (that would be the Beatles, Wire, and Porcupine Tree). But I just love their stuff.
5. indie films:
   Not the wankfests that pass as indie today. We're talking Soderbergh, Smith, Jonze and Linklater, baby! :)
6. mountain dew:
   My caffeine source. Need I say more?
7. penguins:
   Heehee!
8. science fiction:
   I write the stuff.
9. sun chips:
   AKA "Ass Chips", thanks to hagbardc. emmalyon won't let me eat them anymore.
10. wire:
    My second or third all-time favorite band, tied with Porcupine Tree. The word "angular" is frequently used to describe them.

Writing Deadlines

Sunday emmalyon and I went to Barnes and Noble, where I ended up buying the newest edition of Writer's Market Deluxe Edition--one of the best annual market listings for writers. The deluxe edition includes a year's subscription to the WM site which includes updates, industry news, and other nifty things.

Thing is, it cost me nearly fifty dollars, so I told Emm that in order to justify buying this edition (rather than the regular $30 edition which is just the book), I need to finish a story, revise it, and submit it to a publisher before the new edition comes out next year.

I'd like to make Gabriel and Cassandra the story, but if I can get something else as well, perhaps a short story or something, that would be great. Like I said, I have a year.

This should be interesting. :)
