I'm sitting here, on a Monday no less, in
emmalyon's living room, listening to the Smiths on Sirius and using her laptop to do some writing before I head back to (r)Athol(e) later on this afternoon. I hate the fact that I have to head back to my house just as I'm starting to get used to being here. Especially when over the course of this past weekend I've referred to this place at "home" during conversation without thinking twice about it... Well, the job prospects are still floating around and looking pretty good, so the sooner I find something down here the better. Emm and I found a few jobs at Princeton University that I will apply to when I get home. I joked last night that it would be worth it to walk up to my bosses and coworkers and say that I'm quitting YC to accept a job at Princeton. ;)
I'm slowly beginning to acclimate myself to this place. Yeah, I will admit that I do need some reweirding (hopefully
rtrockel, et al., will make good on his services in that area), after having lived back at home in Inkspot for close to ten years... I don't know if I'll ever rekindle the High Weirdness that I once had in my college days, but I'm sure I can find my own brand of quirkiness that's been dormant for quite a long time. I will admit (and yeah, I'm tootin' my own horn--deal! :p ), my quirkiness has always been the non sequitur and the excruciatingly bad pun. There was more, but that sadly got muted early on when I moved back home. Hopefully things will change once I leave...
So yeah, this weekend was a blast. Hanging out with Emm for an extended amount of time and doing *GASP!* domestic things like shopping for clothes and the like. I now have a few pairs of pants and a few shirts in her closet so I have something down here when the inevitable interview sessions start. It just weirds me out--in a good way--how much of a couple we've become in such a short amount of time. And while I'm at it, I apologize to
aliwings and anyone else whose stomach has begun to turn because of our gushiness. ;)
Okay! On that note, I have a bit of writing to do before I head out. Yeah, you heard that right. The day I'm leaving for (r)Athol(e) and I'm spending time writing. That's the way Emm and I are...she's on Lynxie's computer right now doing something completely different and we're both fine with it. Strange, isn't it?
