I figure [livejournal.com profile] emilytheslayer and [livejournal.com profile] inochinoakari have already seen this, but I figured I'd post the link here anyway... :p

And we'll say, which size? And if you say something along the lines of small, medium, or large, we'll know what you mean.
Also, vente isn't meant to be Spanish, it's Italian.

If you say you don't care I'm giving you large, and charging you for it. :)

Yeah, I saw it. Good thing they're perpetuating that myth that 1. Our sizing doesn't make sense and 2. That we give a fuck what you call our sizes. We have to say it right, that doesn't mean we expect anyone else to.

Heh, true...I always say "medium" out of habit anyway...have to admit, before I fell under the spell of Starbucks (diehard DD fan here), those size names always bugged me for some reason (probably because I'd get a nasty stare if I asked for a "medium coffee, extra cream and sugar" at most of the Boston SB's I've gone to). Now I'm used to it, since I can't seem to walk a block without running into a Starbucks here in SF... ;)

As a side note, I just realized that I don't have a coffee icon. WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?!?? O_O...

Well, the nasty look was most likely 'cause we don't put the cream and sugar in your coffee. We leave you room, you do it yourself, because what you think is a little cream might be different from what I think is a little cream. The sizes, seriously, I've never been in a store that cared if the sustomers said it right or not. It's not your job.

See, now being so used to Dunkin Donuts, where they do it for you, I can understand that. And to be honest, I like a lot of coffee with my sugar, if you know what I mean. I can accept that no problem. ;)

And I think at the particular SB that I'm thinking of (the kiosk in the Westin Hotel at Copley Square), I was wondering more how small a small actually was, as I understood the size names, but they sort of glared at me when I wanted to see the size of the cup. Then again, this is about 8 years ago, so I've forgiven them since then... ;)

Oh, see, there's your problem. I can almost garauntee that you weren't at a Starbucks, you were at a liscenced store, which means those people didn't even work for Starbucks, they worked for the hotel. They don't get the same training (if any), and they don't actually know anything anyway, and deeply resent it when you ask questions because they have no idea how to answer them.

I remember when I worked at Dunkin Donuts having to learn roughly how much cream and sugar to put in. That was years ago, and I haven't gotten a plain old coffee at one in years, but you used to be able to order a "regular coffee" which meant a medium with cream and sugar.
