WorldCon Writer's Workshop is GO!
Aug. 8th, 2006 05:39 pmAfter much fretting and hoping that I'd be hearing from Worldcon, I finally got the package in the mail, confirming that yes, I will in fact be attending the workshop! I'll be meeting up with two other participants, three industry professionals (after a little Googling I find that it will be two published authors and an agent) and a moderator for a three hour chat session.
What will happen is that we'll all meet on Saturday (my group, anyway), having read the submissions of the other two participants and come prepared with critiques. Then each will take their turn being in the "hot seat" while the rest of the room gives their verbal critique. The one stipulation being that said hot-seated person (that doesn't sound right, does it...) cannot defend/complain/whine unless permitted to do so.
This is my first non-college, non-Forward Motion-related critique, and also my first done by a professional (in this case, three) in the industry. Sure, I'm a bit nervous, but moreover I'm absolutely thrilled that I was accepted for it, and I'm seeing this as an important experience in my writing career. Who knows? Maybe something might come out of it.
Wish me luck! :)
