If you'd had kids, you'dve already heard of this. But I was nice enough not to inflict in on folks. ;)
komochiko says that this project has the Mothersbaughs' blessing, but it still strikes me as just plain ODD....like the original members are playing an extended practical joke.
I'm always amused when songs are used quite out of context for commercials. I keep hoping I'll hear Iggy Pop sing the full "Here comes Johnny N. again, with his liquor and drugs...he's a sex machine...he's gonna do another strip tease..." during those cruise ship commercials... :p
On the other hand, hearing EMF's "Unbelievable" rewritten as "crumb-believable" in that pastry commercial just makes me cringe...
I saw this at Target this weekend, and ALMOST picked it up for sheer horror value, but couldn't do it. I haven't heard any of the tracks from this, but it seems to me they really, really don't get the whole Devo concept.

Date: 2006-03-15 01:11 am (UTC)FUNNY THING IS DEVO SUBVERTING DISNEY CORPORATION TO RE-CONTEXTUALIZE SONGS ABOUT SEXUAL FRUSTRATION. LAUGH ALL WAY TO BANK, LIKELY!
MEK-SELF NOT SURE WHETHER LAUGH OR CRY...
