The bitter taste of ennui...

For the last few days I've been feeling as though my life is in a rut. Maybe it's that I'm 33, most of my friends are either married or will be soon, some even having kids, and I'm still living at home, still working at the same job (don't get me wrong--I love the company, it's just 4 years of shlepping boxes is a bit...monotonous?)...

*sigh* Okay, so I try to remind myself that I'm a writer--I'll admit, I think I'm a halfway decent fiction writer--that just hasn't been published yet, just to soothe my ego. Fat lot of good that'll do after awhile, though...I'd really like to be elsewhere right now. And have the feeling that I've been even moderately successful in life, instead of coasting.

On the brighter side, though, I've applied for another job within the company I work for, a decidedly non-box-shlepping job dealing with the processing of incoming orders. Basically a desk job that is a bit less physical and a lot less tiring. Here's to hoping I get it. Funny thing, really, I've been thinking of moving on from shipping for some time now, but this job just happened to jump out at me at a time when I wasn't paying too much attention to the company postings. Heh...sometimes the best things jump out at me unexpectedly.

Okay, will update this more soon...going off to vent my frustrations on whatever writing project I have going at the moment...

Well, it just goes to show that I no longer read the Daily News. When did this happen? And is it connected to that Lighthouse on the Rock church where Skinner's Hardware used to be? Wow. Dianetics. I wonder if I can go there and talk about Battlefield Earth with them... heehee

Yeah, I suppose you're right. I guess it's that it's March already and my plan to save $$ this year has gone to shit two months in already. I think that's my big annoyance right now. I've been looking for apartments, albeit halfheartedly, but at least I'm looking.

So in the meantime I've been drowning my sorrows in whiskey and sin--er, I mean, Mountain Dew and tunage. And things are definitely looking up in the writing field. No publications yet (well, not unless you count my recent spate of articles at the Vision webzine site--I don't know html all that well, so here's the URL, all typey and everything: http://www.lazette.net/vision Check it out!), but I'm working on it.

It's right downtown. I don't think it was in the paper. I saw it when I was in town visiting the folks a week or so back. Just up from Cinnamon's, where (I think) there used to be a drug store. Big "Coming Soon" signs in the window and copies of L Ron's stuff everywhere. I don't think it is associated with the Church of the Immaculate Hardware, which I also saw the remains of. Between those two and the Unitarians, you've got all your culty-goodness covered in a very small chunk of downtown real estate!
