I don't know if it's due to the fact that I have so many different things going on at the same time, or that I've been dead tired from work, or what. I just feel like I've completely lost track of time. Heh...not quite to the Billy Pilgrim extent, but just enough that if I don't keep up with these projects, things are going to fall through the cracks and I'll be hopelessly behind. To wit:

--The Process of Belief: Book 3 is perilously close to being finished. I believe I may only have around 10k words (about 4 or 5 chapters) to go and I'll be done. I really can't afford to drop this one right now, because if I did, I'd never finish it.

--Gabriel and Cassandra: The vampire comedy story is sort of stalling at the moment, as I'm putting all my attention on the final chapters of TPOB, but as soon as that's finished, this will be the next main project for me to work on. While the trilogy was a major undertaking (all of the books being close to 150,000 words each), this one will probably only be 75,000 or so. Something light and fun.

--Dock 19 by J.J. Jones: This is a novel I'm proofreading/critiquing for a person I know from Forward Motion. I really need to get on the ball with this one. She'd like it back soon, and come to find out she's got an agent interested in this book. If you see it on the shelves a few years from now, pick it up. It's quite funny in the Christopher Moore sort of sense.

--We're down to about fifteen people in the shipping department at work--right at the end of the 3rd quarter and the beginning of the 4th, mind you--so things are getting a bit nutty. We have close to 85-90 people all over the warehouse packing and shipping candles and whatnot, and only fifteen people to take all those boxes and build pallets for them or pack them in UPS trucks, so you can well imagine that things are getting a bit hectic. (I'll spare you the tirade I came close to throwing at one of the managers on Saturday about this.) The upside is that they've instituted a third shift so I don't have to go in for 4am (for now), which makes me happy. I can handle working Saturdays, especially when I need the dough right now.

--Bruce and I were approached by a co-worker the other day about doing a possible open mike down in Northampton close to Halloween. It would only be a 10 minute (or so) set, and I'd love to do this, but I'm horribly out of practice. I am, however, thinking of writing a new song for this. If I can find the time, I'll pick up the guitar for a little bit to dust off my chops (as they were).

...so yeah, this is a partial list of what I'm doing right now. So if you don't hear from me for a few days, I'm not blowing you off. I'm just doing waaaaaaaay too many things right now.

Do me a favor.....

Try to remember to sleep occasionally. You'll thank me for this.
BTW, I have been buying a lot of those yuppie candles for people lately, so I may inadvertantly be generating work for you....
sorry!
:-)

...uh, sleep? What's that?

Actually, I've been sawin' logs like no tomorrow lately, which is a good thing. I usually only get 5 or 6 hours of sleep and I'm often dead on my feet until I get coffee in me, but lately I guess my sleep pattern is finally aligned. Or something.

Now if they actually did some hiring in my department I'd be even happier... :)

Tell me about it!

We're woefully understaffed, too. The good thing about this is that they have just announced that they are hiring 10 people each in NJ and AZ, and 5 in CA, all by the end of the year. The bad thing about this is that I am the sole official trainer for all 3 processing centers. So my sleeping days may be over, at least for a while!
