Yesterday's 4.25 hour shift was uneventful yet slightly busy as it was right during the dinner rush, so I was slightly tired but not stressed. I think that's what I'm trying to aim for these days with the day job, really... how to minimize the stress. A lot of it really is self-made, usually coming from the dread of having to herd cats the entire time, or being constantly interrupted, or having to deal with the moods of certain people. I don't hate the job, but things like that can certainly make it unbearable.

So yesterday my aim was to come to the shift with none of that already hardcoded. Don't accept the grumpiness of that coworker, or upsetting the flightiness of the other coworker. Part of my job when I'm playing the role of front-end manager is to MANAGE, not to react. I get that now... if they end up feeling annoyed that I'm not pandering to their "I don't want be up front, put me on the floor where I can socialize the entire shift", so be it. I certainly can't make that one person happy if they're constantly grumpy just as part of their personality, so I should just stop thinking it's my job to fix them. Fix what I can fix, adjust what needs adjusting, and focus more on the positive.
