Weekend Update IS FREAKING COLD
Feb. 24th, 2018 08:40 amBRRR!!! Talk about whiplash! Yesterday we left the muggy warmth of Honolulu (hovering around 80F most days, even when it was rainy), and came home to a very chilly San Francisco where it's now currently a very chilly 38 degrees! It's supposed to hit a high of 52 later today. So as you can well imagine, I've got the heat on full blast and I'm wearing my bathrobe and I'm still feeling cold. Coffee has been made, so hopefully that will warm me up ever so slightly.
The vacation was quite nice, all told. We stayed at a hotel on the same block we usually stay at (the very last block of Waikiki, just across the street from the zoo). We visited the Punchbowl, the palace (which neither of us had seen inside before), Waimea Botanical Reserve (one of my favorite places on Oahu). and many tasty food joints. Oh! And we also went to see Black Panther! And yes, I did get to go swimming in the ocean! I don't get to go swimming nearly as much as I'd like. Other than that, we did a lot of nothing much, so it was indeed quite relaxing.
Though I did bring some writing work with me, I didn't get too much done, but I'm okay with that. It was probably a good thing, because I really needed to get my head straight on the Apartment Complex story. I knew I was still feeling a bit frustrated about it but couldn't quite figure out how to fix it, so I did another session of 'read what I have so far' and make a few decisions. It all came to a head on the flight home, when I pulled out the index cards and started making some serious changes. I think I figured out what it needed, which in turn kicked up the pacing a bit (it too was needed), so now I can give it another go. Third time's the charm, I hope!
And now that we're home, our cupboards are embarrassingly bare (other than a ridiculous amount of coffee beans) so once we've scrounged for some breakfast, we'll head out to TJ's for groceries. And hope that it gets ever so slightly warmer so I can feel my fingers and toes again!
Hope everyone has a nice (and much warmer) weekend!
