Midweek Update Is Calling It
Feb. 7th, 2018 01:35 pmI suppose it was due to happen sooner or later, and I'm actually glad it happened sooner. I'm calling it.
I've decided to stop where I am on the Apartment Complex story and restart the project over from scratch. Why, you ask? Well, many reasons, really, but it all boils down to the fact that what I've written so far, while usable and worth revising, is disjointed and not going anywhere at all. I'm not feeling the story. I'm hardly immersed in it. Not that I don't care about the story, quite the opposite: it's that I've got a really good idea and I'm not doing it any justice at all. So for tonight's writing session I'll be starting over from scratch, straight to the PC.
This isn't the first time I've done this, really. I had a false start with Meet the Lidwells and had to start over from scratch after a month of work. I just felt it was better to call it now than to try to keep working with a process that wasn't really working for me. I have no problem with writing longhand, it's just not a speed I can write at right now.
This means I'll be revisiting my writing regimen again in the next few days. I'd still like to utilize as much time as I can to do things, so I'll have to think some about what I'd like to work on and when.
