45: I Know What You're Afraid Of
Aug. 28th, 2011 06:09 pmI know what you're afraid of;
Getting old and losing your drive,
Falling down and not getting up,
Your health failing you before your prime,
and I'm here to tell you I'll save your day.
I know you're afraid of the darkness,
Scared of what you're not used to,
You avoid those with crazy, outlandish ideas,
And you keep yourself as happy as you can
with Daily Affirmations you read every day.
I know what you're afraid of, my friend,
Because we tell it to you every single day,
Because we worry about your state of being,
Because you have every right to know it all,
Because someone's gotta look out for you.
I know you're afraid of the other,
You hate those smartasses who don't take life seriously,
And you distrust those with too much control,
And you feel right at home with these friendly folk,
Because in your heart, you know they're just like you.
I know you're afraid of losing all your money,
What's yours is yours, you have every right to it
And too damn bad for those who didn't prepare
It's their own damn fault they missed the brass ring
Because after all, you look after Number One.
I know you're afraid of the sound of their voices,
Afraid of their noises and their prayers to their false gods,
But I'm not like them, I'm here to keep it all the same,
I'm here to return everything back to how it used to be,
Whenever that was, where ever that may have been.
I know you're afraid of it all, my friend,
And I'm here to make sure you stay that way.
