Will you remember any of this after all those years?
Will the words fly away, leaving only fragmented memories?
What will happen to you at the end of the day
When you climb under the covers to hide from the moon?

Ah, but once you hear that song again,
Something long forgotten falls into place
And those senses are returned to you again
Like you knew music would be your mnemonic--

--the liquid cold of spring air as you walk home
--the stolen warmth of her embrace in the dark
--the dusk color of the sky when it rained
--the faded perfume of an older woman you knew
--the stifled laughter as you corpsed a friend

Will you still remember any of this after all those years?
Will you know why they stuck with you for any other reason
than the soundtrack you'd created?
Will any of it mean anything to anyone else but you?
