7: Coming Back from Vacation
Oct. 3rd, 2010 07:24 pmWe were gone long enough that we'd forgotten our lives
Gave up our frustrations and our annoyances
And, for a brief while, hoped we wouldn't have to return to them.
But on Sunday evening it all came crashing down--
Our home team lost the game in the final minutes,
And I made the mistake of checking my work emails.
We were both rudely awakened from our dreamland
And we had to remind ourselves that real life awaited.
The clock was set for five in the morning,
I listened to the weekend countdown on the Amherst College station,
and I made sure that in the back of my head,
I would be prepared for another mundane workday,
Coffee in hand and brain back in the groove.
