Just got an email from Gateway that my PC has just been shipped and is on its way back to Spare Oom. My thoughts on this so far:

--I believe they're sending FedEx, so there's a good chance that delivery is going to be a BIG pain in the ass, as it usually is. I may need to work at home on the day I'm expecting it, just so I can actually be there to get it. I really don't want to shlep to the nearest FedEx office (no idea if there is one here in SF) like I normally do with UPS.

--I'm guessing that they may have just taken out the motherboard/disc drive and put in a new one. Considering I'd contacted their customer service on at least five different occasions, they may have tried it once themselves, thought "What the hell did he do?!??" and just replaced the innards.

--I can finally listen to the CDs I bought nearly a month ago! YAY!

--I still need to download this month's worth of eMusic songs on the laptop, as it refreshes on Friday. Not a problem, though. Just need to decide what to download. ;)

--I'm just glad that the only money I paid for this little kerfuffle was the shipping costs to their warehouse. Everything else was free, since I'm still under warranty.

--I doubt there'll be any further problems (I'm hoping there won't be any)...but if it's still a lemon, my next step is getting a refund/replacement from Best Buy. Which would really piss me off, but if it happens, it happens.

--Now that I'm in a writing groove, I think I'll still work on the laptop out in the living room, and work in the man cave Spare Oom on the weekends.

More on this when it returns...

Hee!

Found in the Cheers and Jeers column on Daily Kos this morning:

The State Department of Corrections called about you yesterday. Apparently you forgot a comma somewhere. They're very upset.

I loves me some geeky humor. :p

So I'm in the midst of reading Jack Boulware's Gimme Something Better: The Profound, Progressive, and Occasionally Pointless History of Bay Area Punk from Dead Kennedys to Green Day, which professes in the introduction that some of the speakers are in fact complete morons (his words!), I find the following quote from Nicki Sicki, singer of Verbal Abuse:

"When we were on tour once, I farted so bad Dave quit the band and got out of the van in Wisconsin with his bass and started walking home to Oakland."

I can't decide if this is on par with The Young Ones, Bad News, or Spinal Tap.

Still...can't get more punk than that. ;)
