Two more chapters up at
edencycle...two I'm particularly proud and fond of, actually. The scenes with Poe's family and the spiritual training our heroes get are some of my favorites and some of my best stuff.
In a weird way, it also puts a new perspective on Love Like Blood. I've already come to the conclusion (and
dancinghorse backed me up) that LLB is a half-assed work, but in reading these TPoM chapters and comparing the two, it really does show. I read these two latest chapter posts and honestly can't believe how throwaway LLB prose is. Given the situation, though, I'm pretty sure it's not because I was wilfully lazy or didn't care at all...I think it's more that I was in a new situation in my life and subconsciously I didn't put my all into it.
And I have to say this is one of the added and unexpected bonuses to posting these chapters...it's been making me see a lot of my writing in a new light, and I'm finally seeing what I'm doing right, what needs to be worked on...and what needs to be remembered.
