(A continuation of this post, in which I embed some of my favorite songs of a particular year that may not have been hits but were great anyway)

This was the first full year of working at HMV for me. This was back when Tom C. was the boss rather than Russ--really nice guy who ended up being a regional manager for Newbury Comics when he left a year or so later. This was also the year of the Roadtrip to Ohio to visit [livejournal.com profile] head58 and [livejournal.com profile] aliwings. Fun trip, but got the worst driver's tan EVER.

Also the year I officially started The Phoenix Effect out in the food court of the record store, the novel that would become the Eden Cycle trilogy.

Lots o' music videos under the cut. Enjoy! )

Association Meme: Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.

Per [livejournal.com profile] emilytheslayer's suggestions:

1. San Francisco
It's a good sign that I've lived here for about four years and two months and I still LOVE this city. Sure, there's a lot of craziness going on here (including the ongoing Mysterious Case of the Torched Port-a-Pottis)...sure, my personal budget is actually better than my state's...but I love it here. Never a dull moment, I always say. And where else can I say "MY Governor can kick YOUR Governor's ass" and have it be literally true? ;)

2. Denim jacket
Okay, so I'm the weirdo with no fashion sense here, and I freely admit it. What can I say? They're a lot more comfortable and have more useable pockets than most other jackets out there. And I've been wearing them since I was a kid, so why stop now? ;)

3. Embarrassing memories of head58
A--During a phone call, many many years ago:
H58: Gah!! My foot fell asleep.
ME: Why don't you hit it against something? That'll wake it up.
H58: *THONK* OW!! Damn it, why do I listen to you??
ME: heeheehee

B--The guitar solo for "Nothing Spectacular"

C--Sitting in the rear of a study hall in junior high, singing the a capella opening to "Leave It" by Yes with him.

D--After thinking he had a Scrabble win in the bag (no pun intended) with the word "Quirk", our friend Amie coming from behind and winning by merely adding the letter "s" to the end of said word. ;)

On the other hand, all he has to do is say "your date to my wedding" to me, and he's got me beat. ;)

4. Ben Folds 5
I saw them at Pearl Street in Noho in 1995 when the first album came out. Bought the album straight from BF himself! I remember him doing the Hollywood Finish to "Sports & Wine" by doing a running leap and LANDING full-body on his piano. This is after he already finished the song, actually...he had the band finish the song again just so he could make the dive. :p

5. Damn that one should have been 5.
One of my worst faults is that I dwell on stupid things I might have done. Not so much that I should have done something else, but that I feel like an idiot afterwards. On the plus side, though, I'm really good at learning lessons from said stupid things! ;)
