Okay, so the USPS site suggested going to Stamps.com or Endicia.com to sign up for a free account?

WORD OF WARNING: DO NOT GO TO ENDICIA.

A) You end up needing to set up a "free trial" account that takes your credit card account. The price isn't too bad, but I'm always leery of this, in case I want to quit while I'm ahead and they don't process it in time.

B) You end up downloading this OMGWTF UNWIELDY software to attempt to create postage. It took me a good twenty minutes just to figure the damn thing out.

C) You need to buy postage up front and whittle it down. Which makes sense for businesses, and I've used postage machines that do this at various jobs. But for a normal customer, it's VERY counterproductive--How the hell do I know what the postage is going to be?!??

Now I'm leery of going to Stamps.com, because I fear they're going to do the same thing.

I'm better off shlepping the boxes up to the PO after work today. *sigh* :(

ETA: You have GOT to be effing KIDDING me. DO NOT use stamps.com either. So yeah, the software isn't as unwieldy...but you still have to purchase blocks of postage ahead of time. Which I DO NOT want to do. So I go to the website to cancel the account, and use the handy-dandy fill-out form...

...which promptly tells me that due to security, I can't cancel the account online, I have to do it over the phone. I call the toll-free number...

...which tells me to hang up and dial another number. So I hang up and dial the new one...

...WHICH IS DISCONNECTED.

WHAT THE HELL.

ETA #2: Okay, so the number works again. And what do they have playing as the hold music?

Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. *headdesk*

I swear, USPS...you are trying to kill me slowly here... X(
