Mid-day Roundup
Aug. 1st, 2008 01:33 pmBored.
Bored bored bored.
Don't get me wrong, I've got work to do, and I'm doing it, I'd just rather be back at home, on the couch, relaxing with some tunage and perhaps a good book.
YOUR INTERNETZ THEY DOES NOT AMUZE ME ENUF!
Well, except for
lynxreign's post about Minutemen trolls. :p
----------------
In other news...currently reading Tales of the City, and enjoying it immensely, even if it is quite dated. Not often do you encounter a book where on page 10 they mention "boogying at a disco in the Mission." And not often do you read a line that extols the amazing wonderfulness that is Captain & Tennille. :p
The only problem I'm having with this book is that pretty much every male character is a shmuck, in one way or another. They're either chauvanist, whiny, or just clueless. I know, it's part of its charm, but still...I'd like to have at least one guy NOT act like a putz in a scene. :p
----------------
You know what's good about working from home on Wednesdays and Thursdays? The fact that the day after we get back from WorldCon, I'm at home for two more days! It didn't even occur to me until this week. w0000t!
(For the record, this is the last time I'll mention this little gem, since
emmalyon unfortunately will have to shlep in those days, and she's not too thrilled about that... :p )
----------------
Speaking of WorldCon...
To bring the laptop or not? I'm tempted to, just to get some work done during downtime (shheeyeah, like that will happen). I don't mind doing that, since it fits nicely in my backpack (and I have to lug my work laptop home each and every day), the only downer being that it gets heavy. And it's a pain to unpack and repack at airport terminals.
----------------
Still WorldCon...
Unfortunately due to health issues,
antonstrout will not be there, but
kateelliott will, so at least I'll get to say hi to her! :) And perhaps sit in on the silliness that is the "You pick the theme" panel hosted by
jaylake.
And
emmalyon has noticed that there are quite a bit of library-themed panels this year, so it looks like
emilytheslayer may be at risk for unexpected squeeing. :p
---------------
Hope everyone has had a good day so far...have a spiffy weekend!

One more thing...
Aug. 1st, 2008 03:45 pmThere are two really easy ways for me to get home after work: take the 47 bus, which I catch across the street and get off behind the Safeway (a block away from our place), or take the F train, which I can catch across the street, get off at either Bay or Pier 39, and walk a few blocks.
However, these two ways as of late have been hampered by weird schedules.
The easiest one now?
Take the underground to Montgomery, walk 2.5 blocks down Sansome, jump on the 10 bus, and get off a block away.
The funny thing is that this roundabout way is actually the quickest. :p
