Chinese couple apply to name their baby 'at sign'

Seriously, when I read this story this morning, my first thought was not 'what are those parents thinking?!??'...actually, I was thinking how I could shoehorn this into a story at some point. I love the fact that Chinese words being represented by icons and not words, which fits in nicely in with what they're trying to do. It makes some sort of weird sense, doesn't it?

Already available symbols as words...this idea would be such a cool conlang to create.
