Further proving the point...
Jul. 8th, 2007 08:19 pmOkay, just moments ago I witnessed the last few moments of a guy on a bike flying over someone's hood. Nothing severe, just the fact that guy on bike + car in path + law of motion = ouchie. The guy looks okay, more shaken than anything (and the girl in the car looks more embarrassed than shaken). Most damage being a few bits and bobs on the guys bike falling off.
It's interesting who thinks they own the road in this city. Pedestrians clearly think they have the God-given right to walk where they want, when they want, and how they want, despite the fact that one may actually be hindering someone else in the process. Cars? Well...they DO own the road to some extent, but the drivers' problem is not realizing that there are others around. And the bikers? Well, they're in an all-out war with everyone because cars like to run them over and pedestrians get in their way.
I think the accident I saw was one of those both-at-fault moments. The girl probably didn't notice the guy coming down the hill, but clearly the biker should have noticed and been prepared to stop if need be. But it further proves the point that a lot of people here just don't pay enough attention and think they own the road. ;)
